Oh Maynard hasn't changed one bit since 1998, he still pushes his Question Authority. I went alone as my friend bailed on me, so I ate the cost of the 2nd ticket after trying to sell it on Craigslist. Met a guy next to me who brought his 8 year old son, who looked bored. He and I both laughed about Maynard's philosophical talks. That's just Maynard, makes him an interesting character. Love his music.

A Perfect Circle is touring later this year:

I just was myself which is a female who has empathy. A woman would find that appealing if she thought that was from a man. Many men lack empathy. Women like to talk about their lives and their problems, so a man who listens get her more than a CHAD jerk who tells her that he doesn't want to listen to her whining.

Why leave early?

Maynard stands in the back because he wants the spotlight to be on the drummer and the string dudes.

"Apparently Maynard has an eye issue which manifests itself in a sensitivity to bright lights and flashes. It got so bad that it came close to ending his ability to perform live. When the lights get flashing and really going, it causes an almost vertigo-ish reaction that can lead to his passing out. And that would be bad."

Tool are a good band but I can't stand their pretentious wanker fans who read into their lyrics like it's some kind of cult mysticism. I think meshuggah are just a much better version of tool tbh.

I think Maynard is a genius but I don't agree with him about religion obviously. He also made a comment about Pride being so big in the Bay Area and I'm like c'mon Maynard, now that's such a bandwagon thing to say. At my university he did tell the students to question our professors, which why not. In college we are impressionable and even take in what they say subliminally.

Made me think about my TOOL CD collection. Since TOOL isn't on iTunes, I found them on YouTube to listen to at work.

Then I bought tickets to the concert. Maynard was ON FIRE! Yet he no longer comes out on the stage in a bra and painted blue?

I read that the lights bother him? Or is there another story?

One of my best concerts ever! The whole area was SOLD OUT and I couldn't believe there were so many TOOL fans in my area!
I went and saw them 2 weeks ago.. incredible show. Maynard isn't as animated and just stands in the way back. He used to walk around like an alien was inside his body trying to control his robotic body or something.

Maynard and his pipes are godly indeed, but Tool as a band puts on the most technical performances. Experiencing a Tool live show is almost like listening to a studio release.

Don't get me wrong, I love bands that "jam" out songs and improvise on stage just as much as well as grundgy rock, but Tool is something different. They strive to play the song as if they are recording it. The technical mastery is just fukin amazing.

True I never really let good music clash with my political views.

Maybe to him though it's equal to like say...a devout church-going christian headbanging in the moshpit at a Deicide concert?
