Is protein the biggest myth known to man?

If you are natural and you have normal rates of protein synthesis then is the whole gram per pound of body weight just a load of chit? I always used to think protein and fat were the goat and would neglect carbs. Not as in not eating them but not prioritising them.

This last year I have been hitting the carbs. Pre workout especially and eating more carbs through out the day. On this cut whenever I feel flat I'll just up my carbs a bit and boom I'm back. My body looks better than ever and I'm sure some days I haven't even been eating 100 grams of protein.

Yes, it is a huge myth. I have dropped to 0.8g/ lb bodyweight with zero negative effects. The rule that you need lots of protein has been propagated by protein supplement companies to sell more product. F*cking lol at the people who aim for 2g/lb.

Bro I been knowing that protein **** was a crock.

Yes, great "scientific method" to arrive at their conclusion.

"hey how much do you weigh?"

"200 lbs.?"

"OK so you must need 200g of protein, it makes complete sense!!!"

None of this takes into account things like shape you're in, metabolism, let alone stupid simple concerns like: Does that take into consideration how much of my bodyweight is bones, skin, organs, etc?

This isn't like Magnum PI investigatory work being done here, they're like the next few logical questions one would ask.

I eat hardly any protein daily, aside from 3 eggs, rest is mainly vegetables, and carbs like rice, pasta, etc.

The eggs are maybe 30g protein, probably less, I'd bet most days I eat 50g protein or less.

Yet my muscles are somehow growing.

Under 100g of protein a day. Cut out eating meat on most days too.

no sht. thats the amount recommended for "persons undergoing strength training 3-5 times a week"

personally i feel the best on 1g/lb as allocating more to carbs/fats makes me feel sluggish assuming cals are the same in both cases

Used to get 1g per lb. I know get like 100g a day give or take any given day, that's down from on average 180g to 200g. No difference in size and strength gains.

Yes, 0.8-1 gram per lb of bodyweight is all you need, regardless of whether you're natty or not. I always lmao when I see some guy who weighs like 180-200lbs claiming he eats 300-400 grams of protein a day

No whey protein is a bigger myth.

Pretty sure you need at least .5g/lb or you will not have ideal protein synthesis.

I don't think it's a myth.

Over the last few years I started noticing my eyebrows getting thin. I didn't know what that was all about.

Years ago I got a serious injury to the veins in my leg and recently I decided to look into taking high doses of L-Arginine. I started taking 10 grams a day, which is researched as being a good dose, because I wanted to improve blood flow.

So, the L-Arginine has been amazing! It has increased my sex drive to almost annoying levels and made my eyebrows grow back!!

I have been lifting for like 30 years and I was never a big eater, although I put on muscle very fast, and I've done things like be a vegetarian for years, then started eating meat again, but I guess it hasn't been enough. I'm about 225 and I don't come close to eating enough protein on most days. But, after the L-Arginine experiment, which I will keep doing, I have to conclude I'm not getting enough aminos to make my body work as it should.

I have to work out a plan.

Yes it is a myth so that people sell products. You need between 1,2 to 1,7 gr protein per kg of bodyweight

Higher protein intake is much more important on a cut than a bulk. And if you're doing an aggressive deficit you will need significantly more than 0.8 g per pound.

And here's a good read:http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat...eting-qa.html/

Only 10-15% of kcals from protein is required. Excess protein will either convert to fat or excreted in urine.

I've been wanting to experiment with 0.6g protein per pound of bodyweight but just can't risk the gains.

These are the kind of threads that prove exactly how fukin retarded a large majority of the people on the misc are.

its been SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that more protein does equal better gain.

"but but... I still see results by eating 1g of protein a day..."

Oh wow what? No sht genius. No one ever said that you can't build muscle on a low protein diet, it's just not optimal.

The difference in muscle you'd build by consuming 0.5g/lb vs 1g/lb is minimal, THERE IS a difference but it's very small and you wouldn't notice it, only way to track it would be over a very very extended period of time. (Which is what the scientific studies are there for)

You're literally saying the same as "Why even lift more than once a week when you can build muscle by going to the gym once a week" yea no sht you can, it's just not optimal.

Ok so given you conclusion, what's the ****ing point of getting more protein if it makes next to no noticible difference? Second to that is your avi which demonstrates that you don't belong in this discussion anyway.

I find it's best to just eat fcking food when you're hungry and it'll all work itself out in the end

I got to 220lbs, no drugs and never tracked a single macro or measured a single scoop of protein out, no calculations... nothing, just put food in my face and lifted some heavy ass weights every day
