I live in a place where there aren't many black or mixed people. In fact there is probably a more prominent Asian (still minority) community in my local and neighboring cities. I can empathize from experience dude, it's painful not to have a sense of belonging. And to be rejected for simply being you.

I don't know why, but in the Africa Diaspora in the west, communities tend to value aggression, violence, and extroversion. A contemplative, intellectual, and/or sensitive temperament seems to be considered something to be ashamed of, and attracts bullying.

If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend watching the movieDear White People, which IMO highlights a lot issues with black racial identity/belonging.

I would strongly encourage you to learn more about the regions of West, East, Southern Africa . You'll see the ethnic/cultural diversity. (EAOP introduced me to ethnic/cultural diversity with her thread about Rwanda)

Unfortunately IME of the west, Afro and non-Afro heritage people tend to think there is one 'black culture', and if you don't embody the values of that culture you are deemed 'wanting to be white'. When you seen ethnic and cultural diversity in Africa, you'll see that it comes from simple ignorance.

And if you have the kind the self-hate that alt-righters try to encourage (eg. "Look at Africa, that is proof black are inferior), I would advise picking up books like:The Looting Machine By Tom Burgis and How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney(I've just started) both, which breaks down how corrupt leaders in Africa, in collusion with western corporations and governments, bleed Africa dry of resources.

My experience nowadays being a 'nerdy black guy' is that black women will **** with me because I'm down to earth and easy going. They relate to me because I'm a southern boy. Some black women want the thug black dude or whatever and may dismiss me, but some black women that are typically into that stereotype like that I'm not but I can demonstrate that I can put it down as well and not be a pushover

I'm around mostly white people and I've encountered some white women question my blackness because I lived in the suburbs most of my life and I'm "bougie" or whatever lol. Non American white women see me more as a suave clean cut professional type. I never had my blackness questioned by black folks even if I came off as a cornball or whatever.

I'm just myself though and have dated black white latina.

The only thing distinct about Sub Saharan Africa is that we are all black African people.

I've picked people representative of their groups and I've not even scratched the surface of the diversity. There are 3000 ethnic groups in Africa with hundreds of different looks.

Have a little humility and don't argue about stuff you know nothing about.
This is how I feel when people get mad that a "white" cop shot somebody, when he is obviously german with germanic features, or slavic. How can you blame Italians or Celtic people for that?
