Of course it's a myth, supplement industry of peace, most natties would make fine gains on 1.8 gram per kg bw, which works out to around 0.8 gram per lb, and this is at the very most which is extremely easy to hit on a caloric surplus or mantenance unless you're a vegan, protein needs go up a bit on a cut though. It's a different ballgame when you're using supplements due to much higher protein synthesis who can actually make use of the higher protein amounts.

what do you guys think about fiber. im aiming to get at least 50g per day, so let say you get 150g carbs, do you deduct fiber or you just count it as a carb and dont stress over it.

there were times where i would get 100+g of fiber per day, omg those gains on toilet were unreal

you just gotta train hard and eat whatever your appetite allows you to..its nature way of saying you need certain macro/mineral when you have cravings. like if you crave chocolates you probably lack iron/maganese, starving yourself when you are hungry will only crash your body

I get an insane bloat every single day, dirty bulk ftw, it's mostly belly bloat and it's usually gone by night/next day tbh

the reason why they feed people on life support in intensive care glucose solutions is because it is the most direct source of energy for te bodies cells to utilise, dont see doctors blathering on about "needing 200grams of protein to mantain jacked fibras"
im glad the whole protein myth is dying out though, I personally hate the taste of meat and only ever ate it in the first place because I was suckered in my the b.s supplement industry.
The thing I get up in the morning craving is carbs, therefore what my body needs is carbs, its that simple.

Nattys don't need anywhere close to 1gram per lb of bodyweight. Would it hurt? Probably not, but guys on dat der in a constant state of anabolism are the ones who need protein intake around the clock

1g/lb is more of a rule of thumb because no one knows how much protein each individual needs. so instead of getting into complex formulas and b.s. 1g/lb was a 'safe bet'.

I was a vegetarian for a long time but grew up eating meat constantly.

It took YEARS to feel like total crap being a vegetarian. That's how long it took for my body to run out of fuel.

So, if you've been eating massive amounts of protein and lifting, you've built your body up from the food you eat. If you've switched it up to eating something else, you don't feel the negative effects for quite awhile.

Carbs aren't a source of food for bodybuilding. Since you already built muscle, maybe you can lower your protein intake to maintain, but carbs are basically just like eating sugars and aren't good in the long run.

just make protein a part of every meal, don't worry about fats, alter carbs accordingly while avoiding too many simple carbs, keep it as natural as possible, eat 'til you're full and no more, and eat when you're hungry. combine that with some intense lifting and you'll have a good body. no supplements needed.

supplement companies hate me.

Yes it does.

Your body replaces all of its cells every seven years.

Your body is constantly making new cells, but it doesn't do it all at once.

All of the food you eat goes toward fueling and repairing your body. It is a slow process to build a body and it's a slow process for it to degrade if it doesn't have the right food.

There is no other way it works, brah.

Isn't this a bit of a generalization with how metabolic pathways affect the breakdown of different things? Saying eating protein builds muscle is a bit like saying drinking blood will increase my oxygen levels.

Complete proteins in your diet are the main source your body uses to get materials to build protein structures in your body.

There's no need to over complicate it in a discussion like this.

I heard some nutrition expert say something about protein needs going down with training age so advanced trainees would need less protein than noob lifters to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Can't remember where I heard it though.

i dont believe in simplified answers for something as complex such as the body.
for anyone willing to understand protein more thoroughly here.

also a varied diet(plant or not), supplies enough essential amino acids as long as daily caloric requirements are met.

That paper didn't say much of anything.

Secondly, one doesn't need to read a paper to understand the basics of eating, you are what you eat, is a phrase everyone knows and it's pretty much true. The macro nutrients are what composes our bodies, overall, and that's what one needs to eat to achieve a certain form.

a simplified answer to a medically researched paper concerning protein synthesis in a thread about protein.
I dont disagree with the you are what you eat but that's just the surface and i take it with a grain of salt.
Varied diets are key as long as caloric requirements are met, ill leave it at that.

• Tarnopolsky et al. (1988) found that only 0.37g/lb was required to maintain positive nitrogen balance in elite bodybuilders (over 5 years of experience, possible previous use of androgens) over a 10 day period. 0.45g/lb was sufficient to maintain lean body mass in bodybuilders over a 2 week period. The authors suggested that 0.55g/lb was sufficient for bodybuilders.

Not a ridiculous idea. Although I've heard it discussed somewhere that the more advanced the less protein you require.
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."
