I still have my pokemon 1st gen or whatever (the 1st edition of the pokemon with Charizad, venosaur, blastoise, etc.). As far as I know I have every card there is besides the holographic charizard.

This comic book Action Comics No. 1 which was the first appearance of Superman in 1938 sold for $3,207,852 a couple years ago.

Someone even found a copy of this comic inside their walls.

Why the hell people pay such ludicrous amounts for a piece of printed paper? Could partially understand if chit was hand drawn.

The most valuable Pokemon card is the rare promotional Pokemon Illustrator card of which only 39 were produced with an unknown number still actually in tact in the marketplace. I might be talking out of my ass, but I think one of those sold for $50,000.

The problem with the newer stuff is that they are printing way more product today, also, part of the scarcity with graded old generation stuff comes from the fact that there were years that went by before grading Pokemon cards became a thing to do, which means that lots of existing cards were deteriorating in quality or damaged. What you are seeing today is people sending in stuff for grading pulled right out of the pack, which means that there wont be the same scarcity for PSA 10 grades on the newer rare cards in the future.

When I was a kid, I saved all of my sports cards in protective casing, thinking they'd be worth thousands when I was an adult.

Unfortunately, everyone else thought the same thing, so those cards are worth jack today.

You should seriously get that graded by PSA. Not sure if it's a 10 (not quite perfectly centered and looks like bottom right corner is not 100% sharp), but I bet it's a solid 8-9 at least. Even PSA 8 sells for up to 2k it looks like.

And the value of these lower graded ones will rise as well. As the PSA 10 cards are priced out of the hands of people who want to hold them for personal/nostalgic value (we are pretty much there already), these people will need to go down in grade if they want to actually add a 1st Edition base set Charizard to their collection. Like I said, the allure of this card will never go away. This was known as THE rarest non-promotional card from the original set even when I was a kid; everyone wants this card.

Saw this EP of Pawn Stars. I still have all my cards in extremely good condition.

Wasn't 1st edition Machamp in base set? Why da fuk is it worth $1,000? Am I missing something.

Even back when it first came out it was crazy sought after. I remember kids going nuts when someone pulled out a charizard. So glad I had the sense to put it into a case and stow it away. I had totally forgot about it until this thread. Didn't even remember it was shadow less till i got home and checked

i remember seeing people buy 1st edition packs but the error was the no 1st edition stamp. strong error. only pulled one base charizard in my life. what a day. i remember the kids at the store wanted to see it. i fooking ran home as fast as i could. no fooker was stealing my shet.

also grading brings in a fair amount of value to the cards if they are 9.5 or higher. the card industry turned to shet when people were just doing it for the money. buying boxing at insane prices just to land a single whale of a card to grade. strong gamble that has such low odds.
20 IS 20. AT LEAST POST IN THE THREAD.

i distinctly remember seeing a holographic charizard for sale for $110 at a comic book store back in the day. should have had the foresight to explain to my mom that i could have sold it later, although that would have been a tough sell.
