also no grenade launcher attachment, but you pretty much listed them all conditions as they apply to semi-automatic rifles.

however, if you make your rifle featureless, you can have a bullet button. and no need to register it. I did it with mine and it really doesn't bother me much when shooting.

i've put probably about 1000 rounds with and without the "featureless" stock. only other thing I had to change was the flash hider, which i swapped for a muzzle brake.

don't get me wrong. I much prefer the pistol grip. but i'd rather not register my rifle, and would rather not own it illegally according to state laws.

So what if you already have a center fire rifle with a bullet button? Get rid of the bullet button and you have a standard rifle? da phuk?

my dad had this on his AR, I was under the impression they were banned too?

Guys, just because your "AR" rifle was CA legal a some months ago, or earlier this year, or last year, or the year before, that doesn't mean it is now

they are perfectly legal so long as they aren't left on an assault classified weapon. You could own one along with a rifle with the limiting features, but you would be in the wrong if you were caught leaving it on at all times. IE you'd only be using it as a tool to release the mag, then removing it right after.

Like i said though, i changed the stock/grip, and the flash hider, so my AR-15 is technically a featureless rifle (aka not an assault weapon in the eyes of CA). and featureless rifles are allowed to have a "standard magazine release" which allows for the mag to be removed without a tool. I just was lazy when doing all the featureless swaps and didn't feel like modifying it. so i just bought that and slapped it on. it stays on all the time.

Ok I guess that explains bullet button "gloves" that I've seen.

because I'm a snowflake and like to be different, I've been looking into an SL8>G36 conversion for a couple years now. The process was confusing enough beforehand, so now I gotta run through the legal swamp again.

In AZ?

It has to be a pistol (can't be a rifle, can't have shoulder stock, can't have vertical foregrip, etc), or it has to be registered as an SBR with the applicable Federal tax stamp acquired via the ATF's NFA division before you EVER put the 10.5" barrel upper onto a lower that isn't a pistol lower (or an "other" lower that has never been assembled as a rifle)

while not exactly outlawed, the bullet button no longer removes the "assault weapon" classification, as it no longer renders the magazine fixed, according to the new laws.

they expect you to register your weapon, or like farley said, get arrested for having it illegally or just give up and turn them in.

A 10.5" barrel gives you two restrictions. You can't have a stock on your lower, and you can't use a vertical foregrip. You can avoid these restrictions by registering your rifle as an SBR with the ATF. I'd recommend getting a 16" barreled rifle. You avoid any weird laws or legal pitfalls, and the total added weight is about 9 oz.



I'd skip PSA personally. My first rifle was a PSA AR, and while it was fine (I still have the upper), Aero's finish is better quality, and they have fewer quality control/shipping issues.

I'd go with the Aero upper posted in the OP. Might also be a tad lighter due to barrel profile for an 11yr old.

I don't know what qualifies a rifle to be registered or not as I'm not familiar with CA laws. Brings up the question: If you finish an 80% lower, and not make a rifle featureless, do you still have to register it?

The Armalite AR-15 rifle is actually called the M-15 (that's what I have). AR-15 i believe refers to the platform, which all three companies adhere to for those rifles.

the Colt is the 6920 btw. bushmaster is the M4AX. Sig Sauer has the SIGM400, Smith&Wesson has the M&P Sport II.

from what i understand, the AR-15 designation came around because Armalite was the first to make it? not entirely sure, i'm sure someone can correct me if wrong
