As each living man dies, he can be converted into a wight. So at each human killed, that's - 1 for the living and +1 for the dead. They gonna need some serious fire power to stop that.

Tbh, I thought it was overall the worst season to date. The worst part for me is how this show has been so dumbed down. We, the viewers, get treated as if we're complete idiots who are incapable of putting two and two together. I felt like I was watching a high budget Walking Dead complete with the mind numbing viewing experience and emotionless script reading from the actors.
The only thing saving it from being as potato as of the rest of the crap on tv was the CGI, and I'll say that it was the best CGI that has ever existed on television, eclipsing even most of today's high budget movies. (But good god, save one more person at the last second because of plot armor, and I'll lose it). That being said, I thought it was too much. Every time more CGI was added, the experience was lessened.
Take Drogon, for example. The first reveal at the fight against Jaime was badass because it was the first time we really saw him in action. He was burning people to ash and shrugging off scorpion bolts like they were cotton swabs. It was downright terrifying. But then we saw Drogon burn the Tarlys, and then we saw him try to intimidate Jon, and then we saw him melt some wights, and then we saw him land in front of Cersei. By the end, I could care less about the fuking dragon so when we got to the Ice Dragon reveal, I just shrugged my shoulders (also because it was blatantly obvious but that's a whole different matter). They need to find a better balance of story telling and CGI effects. This season it felt like the latter overruled everything else.
It may sound like I hate it - and I think a part of me really did because of how betraying it felt to see this show be reduced to a Walking Dead type - but it' was still better than 99.9% of everything else on TV. I just hope the last season is given a little more justice.

So this had been bothering me all along and I'd like someone to correct me if I missed something:
It seems to me that the difficult outcome (aka the army of the dead invading) has only been provided due to necessity of a final epic story.
Think about it, what would have happened if Dany and Jon decided to siege Kings Landing instead of trying to capture a wight and prove it to Cersei? The outcome would be: Cersei lost, Dany converts remaining Lannister troops to her side, and still has her own troops, the remaining houses' troops, and 3 DRAGONS to fight the NK. Literally the only way NK was able to invade anytime soon was by creating a superpowered dragon which he would never have gotten if Dany didn't hand him one.
No dragon means they'd have to find other ways to break the magic of the wall, then chip away at it despite resistance from Nights Watch, enough for a massive army to pass through.
Alternately they'd have to get the sea to freeze somehow? Seems unlikely.
What am I missing? Seems NK's only hope was to pray Jon was dumb enough to go on this expedition.

dothraki had very light loses and unsullied probably reboosted their troops with the fresh recruits dany took in astapor. I counted like 8000+ unsullied in the finale episode outside kings landing.

In realtea she'll probably marry supercuck Theon who sort of rescued her from the tower.
Still holding out hope everyone dies and white walkers win. Show has gone full potato with tree singers and dragon humpers.

There's powerful magic in the wall that stops them from passing through. They'd have to: SOMEHOW find a way to break the powerful spells that kept them out for millennia. Supposing they do this, they'd then have to start chipping away at the wall. Thanks to mammoths and giants this is possible but would likely take months if not years. Plus there's the bottleneck issue which would make it incredibly easy for Jon and Dany to get a Raven telling them to withdraw and bring dragons. Bottleneck + dragonfire = GG.
This whole outcome depended on NK getting a dragon and that's a huge flaw to me.

I wonder if digging a huge tunnel beneath the wall would have allowed the walkers to pass.

Major points in their favor being they don't need to stop to rest/eat and can march 24/7 without tiring. So, that sucks.

When you think why the Whitewalkers decided to come down now out of all those 100 years before, my thinking is it's because the dragons were close to being born (and Jon/Dany). The only way to bring down the wall/the magic within it was a dragon (on the show anyway). So the NK, who I'm assuming has similar powers to Bran, set the trap for Jon and co on that small island. There are too many lucky breaks if that's not the case.
The group Jon and co ambush just happens to have one wight that wasn't part of that WW's cabal that Jon kills, leaving them their prize. They then get chased onto a ice island allowing them to survive until Dany arrives. The NK happens to have magical spears that can kill dragons on him yet doesn't use it on Jon and co, like he was waiting for Dany to come save them with her dragons.
It could end up being as contrived and stupid as you've mentioned above, but I'd be so so surprised (and disappointed) if there isn't something more to the NK. Prophecies/visions play a big part in GoT so he may know of one and therefore expected Jon and Co to turn up, with Dany turning up to rescue them. Or his greenseer abilities are more developed than Bran's and he can see into the future.
Basically I'm hoping it'll get answered when we find out more about the NK - if it doesn't it'll be pretty tragic and hilarious

He might even have a confrontation with the Night King along with Beric which will reveal something new about him (does the mofo speak?) that will impact a later meeting with Jon and co. If he just retreats back to Winterfell to join the rest I agree it's a waste.
In regards to Jaime - he's pretty much the last key to alliance with the crown for Dany, because he was the only person with high rank willing to listen to reason. His death would pretty much have assured Dany would be fighting 2 wars.
But now that he's exiled himself I have no clue what he'll do.

My issue with zombie army. There are, what, 4-5 Walkers including the King? Say Jon tells Daenerys to focus fire the dragons on non-King Walkers. So far we haven't seen the King be able to reanimate the Walkers. They get hit with dragonglass / Valyrian steel = KO and all the zombies they reanimated, also drop dead instantly. We also haven't seen the King reanimate the dead until after the fighting is done and I can't imagine him just chilling and making zombies on the fly instead of flying around and doing the fighting himself. Hell, say one of the dragons flies Jon and a bunch of people to the Walkers' position and they take them out with dragonglass. The King still has a dragon and significant army but all his generals are gone so either he wins or he gets rolled.
Obviously now he has dragon which I imagine will turn out to be more powerful than the other 2 when he's undead but in the end, it all comes down to either bull rushing the Walkers and taking them out or going full retard at the King in order to drop him down to the ground and then bull rushing him.
tl;dr too few Walkers for my liking

It very well could be that the NK has the ability to see pieces of the future, or has been told a prophecy that he will ride a dragon or that the wall can only fall to dragonfire so he was simply waiting for a dragon. It's also completely possible he was going to march South with or without a dragon and "mine" down the wall like you suggested. That's not an adequate answer.

I guess in a very long winded way I'm saying we dont know enough to pass judgement one way or another.

How come when Jon killed the one whitewalker, all of the whights shattered except the one that they ended up bringing back?

They could do it from the start, sure, but they always chill in a sea of wights, and now the NK has an anti-aircraft arm.

saw this on reddit freefolk
I don't understand how this season has made Tyrion literally THE DUMBEST character on the show.
EDIT - A list of Tyrion's bad ideas:
Don't immediately take King's Landing. No one likes Cersei, she just blew up the sept and half the city. With some dragon fire aimed at the keep - and only the keep, not the city - I would expect the people to be fairly accepting of Dany.
Take Casterly Rock. Tyrion was the master of coin. He knows there's no gold there, and it has no strategic value. It was a petty "**** you" to his father, which is silly because he already delivered the ultimate mic drop with a crossbow. (Note: sending the ships to Dorne did actually make sense, they needed the army. But has anyone on this show heard of scouting?)
Not sending troops to protect the most valuable kingdom, The Reach.
Chastising Dany for using her dragons. This is WAR, dude. Especially the whole Tarly thing.
Thinking Cersei will be reasonable about the WW. I mean, he's been dealing with her crazy for 7 seasons. This is just nuts.
The entire wight plan. 'Nuff said.
Supporting Dany's most powerful ally (Jon) putting himself in extreme danger. Then telling Dany not to rescue her only ally. Losing Viserion sucked, but otherwise Dany would have lost Jon (and the support of the North). The whole situation could have been avoided without the dumb plan.
Bringing the entire crew Cersei's home turf, were she could have easily had scorpions ready to kill the dragons, wildfire hidden under the dragon pit, or a million other murderous plans.
Believing Cersei when she agrees to cooperate. It's Cersei, yo.
can't say i disagree. writers making tyrion look like a fukking moron this season
