I would have been pretty nice about it and not flown off the handle like that guy, but you dont lean on another persons car. Its not a park bench, light pole, or random tree. You might have buttons, a zipper, or your keys that scratch the paint.
It happened once when I was in college. I was outside eating with my friends and I saw a few guys talking in the parking lot and one of them was leaning on my car. I approached him and said "hey man, could you not lean on my car, I dont want you scratching it and then having to get you to pay for the damage."
end of story, he got off my car and seemed not to do it again in the 30 minutes I was outside eating.
It happened once when I was in college. I was outside eating with my friends and I saw a few guys talking in the parking lot and one of them was leaning on my car. Going to have to agree that you were out of line here. Literally no reason to be leaning on peoples cars, let alone resting your backpack ontop fo some random car like wtf??? Dude might have over reacted but your fault for causing the confrontation.

-Dude starts mumbling some stuff which I won't post here (he thought I couldn't hear him) as he got into his car.
-I was pretty rustled srs, was thinking of spitting on his rear window as he drove off, but decided against it. I'm above that kind of behaviour.
But wtf kind of reaction did that guy have. He could've of just asked like a normal person and I would've immediately got of his car. But noooooo, he wanted to show off to the two mother's who were at a nearby cash machine. Making a scene like a pathetic child, he's probably a tradie too. Would've annihilated him if he laid a finger on me srs. There was a CCTV camera a few meters away, so I would've got away with it LEGALLY
But yeah, there you have it guys. My first confrontation with a violent animal in public in a looooong time
