My portfolio is around ยฃ120k - that's shares, mutual funds, bonds, ISAs, cash and a little bit of crypto.

Then I have a few pensions which I don't really keep track of worth a couple of hundred grand I think. Had an amazing final salary pension in my first job (up to 27% non-contributory for 9 years) and my current one is good too. I've been lucky with that.

But I'm 35 and don't own a house so I'm probably not winning. Zero debt though.

My parents offered, and only asked for 10k back a year, they knew how much of a difference in me draining 50k out of my retirement account would have made in the long run. Also you fail to see how much money i can save now to pay them back because i have no mortgage or rent to pay. Sam I couldn't imagine what kind of house hold you grew up in, i'm sure if your parents truly loved you they could have helped make your life so much easier(encourage you to pursue an education/training that will get you a respectable job), rather they choose to let you fumble around working minimum wage for decades on end.

Good thing iowna large double lot sized piece of land, because banks also look at that. I know that last sentence if shear cope because i get offers every couple months to extend my line of credit, I have only needed to check my credit 3 times and that's when i bought a car, and all of them were in the 700s (800 is the max in Canada). If it really boiled down to getting a loan, I would just show my pay stubs(caught a couple bankers mirin too)

Keep trying your best to cope sam, end of the day you are 43, you still perv on girls that could be your daughters age(if you weren't a virgin), you find joy from children that have gashes cut in their heads.

zero sexual clout(proctor and gamble thrives off your loneliness), and not even respectable financial clout for someone as old as you. For someone who has never been married or have kids, the fact you don't have 2 places paid off is pretty embarrassing

1. I choose to work minimum wage for my own reasons. Nothing to do with my upbringing.
2. You aren't paying them a dividend, you are draining money from their retirement for your own selfish pleasure

1. That's the stupidest thing I may have heard today. Literally no reason to work off minimum wage for decades besides pure laziness and not wanting to be a productive member of society.
2. You're really showing your handicap. Why would he pay a dividend to his parents? If his parents asked, it sounds like he can plenty afford it. Don't bash someone for having helpful and supportive parents.
3. UK = World's Biggest Dispensary of Salt.
4. No one gets dozens of offers to extend credit every month unless you are paying chit off quick + more money. Card offers and extensions are different *******.
5. Beta.
6. You just said he lived in "bumblefukk" nowhere, and living somewhere "civilised" (z*). Pick one, not both. The only person he is insulting is rejects like you, you don't need any of that to have a better life for yourself.

Also why don't you have 2 places paid off?

For all brahs looking to improve their situation in this area I have one piece of advice:

TRACK your NET WORTH.

Once you start doing this your personal finance situation inherently starts improving. You start doing the things you should be doing. Even if you are negative net worth (typical of average miscer age) it will creep up to 0, then $1,000, then &10,000, and on to 7 figures+ eventually.

Me and the girlfriend are just about to go fishing, felt good smashing 2 times before lunch. But before we go fishing I told her I'd buy ice cream cause she helped me put up some Christmas lights just 2 minute ago.

Wouldn't even gesture the idea of switching places with you lol

Try and understand it's not the fact that his parents helped him, good for him, it's the fact that he never, ever acknowledges that he wouldn't remotely be in the position he is in without them. He hasn't got the right to even open his mouth on the subject of other people paying off mortgages and such, he has absolutely no frame of reference

I'm not going to go into exact figures, however my company matches 401K contributions, and has a Stock Purchase Plan. I obviously participate in both, and expenses are 30% of income.

For those wondering what they should be saving, this applies to all ages;
-Have at least $1000k for an Emergency
-3 to 6 Months of Income in case of unemployment or injury
-Always pay your bills first
-Save, save, save

I live comfortably.

I haven't been tuned into the debate, but I definitely agree that people who have privilege but don't recognize it are, at best, deluded.

Nobody wants to believe they didn't have an edge over somebody else, it's a difficult pill to swallow that your current situation wasn't all your own hard work. Of course it's takes work too, but the amount of work depends on initial factors.

That's why I never judge someone on their worth or "success"; I judge them on their attitude and ethic.

1. I have built up over 200k portfolio before i ever needed to borrow anything from my parents.

Spoiler!
COPE

2. If i really wanted too i could buy multiple properties right now, with minimal effort. you don't have any dependents and you are 43, one wold think would have accumulated more wealth given having such low expenses month over month despite having your time worth minimal value.
