1. I have built up over 200k portfolio before i ever needed to borrow anything from my parents.
Spoiler!
2. If i really wanted too i could buy multiple properties right now, with minimal effort. you don't have any dependents and you are 43, one wold think would have accumulated more wealth given having such low expenses month over month despite having your time worth minimal value.
did you go to the opera with your girlfriend?

Maxed out TFSA, have 150k~ in various stocks/bonds, 25k in regular savings, 15k~ across various other accounts.
I also own my property, mortgage-free and rent out a room to a friend, so a bit of extra passive income. Tempted every day just to sell everything and travel for the next decade or so and bang escorts/sloots then die at like 40.

Retirement accounts hovering somewhere around 155-160k USD right now.
EDIT: This thread is inspiring. After skimming through it and seeing all these young guys with high numbers, it makes me want to hustle harder and patch holes in my own financial game. Just these past few months I increased my salary by over 100%, but I could be doing more in terms of passive income. I am saving about 65% of my over six figure salary right now, and will be saving more in the new year. I am invested in cryptos and other risky ventures, but most of my money is in index funds. I need to find other income streams.

Not one of them is doing better off financially than I am right now because they don't have a concept of hard work, money management, investing, or responsibility.Try and understand it's not the fact that his parents helped him, good for him, it's the fact that he never, ever acknowledges that he wouldn't remotely be in the position he is in without them. He hasn't got the right to even open his mouth on the subject of other people paying off mortgages and such, he has absolutely no frame of reference
Does having well off parents help? Yes. Is it an automatic path to success? Absolutely not

Not even going to lie, Damn near $0. I've lived my adult life so far in debt and buying chit and putting it on credit/financing it. So a good portion of my money went to bills to pay off **** i already have and am bored with. I had an epiphany and downgraded to the basic essentials, moved into an room in a house and going into extremely saving mode. I should be putting away close to $1000-$1500 a month easy with my current income. Have a side business going that i'll be working with aswell.
I like the tuna here.

Don't judge a man til you have walked a mile in his shoes. It's easy to write someone off based on their job, but the reasons for there position can be a lot more subtle than you realise. I'll never participate in the 'tradie' pi$$ taking because I've seen both sides of the coin. I've known tradies who could buy out the average miscer 20 times over.
