doesn't locking your tokens up for 18 months only give you like a 5% return or something like that? Lol I thought I heard that somewhere... 18 months is a fuking eternity in crypto brah. Not sure if I'd be down for that

Nobody is all too sure yet. You might get a second coin like the August fork if you hold BTC, you might not. There's much contention over the new coins' legitimacy, but if you hang on to your btc you should be fine.

What we know:

People have been getting into BTC before the fork because last time there was a fork bitcoin split into bitcoin cash. Whatever coins you have in btc, youll receive the same amount in bitcoin gold like people did with bitcoin cash.
Bitcoin cash ended up surging at one point, essentially giving people free money. It went from like sub 100 dollars to 800 dollars per at one point. This is why people are getting into BTC

What we don't know:

Whether people will dump btc once they get bitcoin gold
Whether people will dump after this fork October 25th and remain in btc for the other fork (segwit 2x)
Whether people will dump after segwit 2x
Alts are on 'sale' now... People will dump after the fork.
Newbies are entering the market due to press and media. Newbies will learn about alts. BOOM

Honestly... and I could very well be wrong, but I think people are gonna bounce back and forth... no fuking way do I see people just staying in BTC and riding it out til segwit

Alt prices are down and dipping... they're not just gonna continue to fuking bleed for another month. Eventually they're gonna drop down low enough to where the prices are gonna be so juicy that people are gonna jump back in and pump them back up. Honestly, I think it could very well go back and forth like that a couple times or so up til segwit at least.

It's already done it, has it not?

You could hold long term and be fine but short term you may see btc drop after the fork. And you would be able to get in cheaper

So what is the difference? I am doing my research but I am way in over my head with the details. So do I just keep my stash on coinbase and when it splits I get more coins? Does it work if I keep it in my electrum wallet? Or does it have to be on an exchange?

Also what wallets do you guys use? I originally just used electrum but I didn't have that much money in it. Now that I dropped another 10k into it I want something more secure. I heard there are physical options. Can I just make copies/backups or is it only a one device thing? Thanks repped.

If you have that much in coin I suggest you get a Nano S. Run you about $75 from Amazon.

BTC will dump BEFORE the fork. It's all one big whale trick this time. BCH was a legit fork, with legit support and a real goal to become a legit coin. Bitcoin Gold is a scam fork, the whales have realized this and pumped the price up way earlier than before the first fork. They will dump on you this time before the fork and the Bitcoin Gold will be useless, if you even get any.

Locking up money for 1.5 years for a 10% bonus is a horrible idea in crypto. I'd rather have 55k coins and not get the 10% bones but be free to sell them if a better opportunity comes along

Yeah, true.

Need to get that nonsense out of my head.

here's the link if anyone's interested btw... but it is interesting because they put 100mil coins in and just have expectations of the amount of coins will be invested, so could be more I guess if you have the money to spare and are for sure locking in the loopring it is good, but in the market we have, fuk it.

Thanks bruhs. Ordering it now. One last question, can I make multiple copies as backup or is it just limited to one device/wallet only? Say I keep it on my the nano, can I have one copy on me and another stashed away in a safety deposit box in case I lose it?

My thoughts too. Alts popularity have driven BTC to these type of stunts. Did you see those green bars early this morning? Frickin blue whales.

Question is, where will those whale's money go after they dump

You get a passcode that you keep on paper. If you ever lose you nano you can just buy another one and use that passcode.
