Doing something like the RPR would allow me more money to complete the full setup. Nicer bipod, spotting scope, reloading supplies, etc. I've never even picked one up though. Purposely avoided them at the LGS.

One thing I don't like about them is the rail over the barrel. Makes it hard to get a 50mm scope close to the barrel. That was a DQ when I was trying to decide on a chassis.

You can still get the scope pretty low though. Do a ruger RPR in 6 creed, and buy a ton of ammo. Figure your next barrel out later. That or a Tikka .260 or 6.5 in a good chassis. The Tikka Tac A1 is pretty sweet.

all the MFC - DIY project brahs need your help - just made a coffee table out of some pallets that i broke down, rebuilt, and stained to look like old grey barnwood

I now want to spray some kind of clear coat so that if anything spills it will help not fuk up the finish we have. I'd like to preserve the "old wood" look with this, so do they matte/flat sealants? what should i look for ?

I'm no pro and haven't really done any of this, but I think you're supposed to seal with a polyurethane after staining. So one of these should be what you look for:http://www.homedepot.com/b/Paint-Int...vZaqstZ1z10m12

I've used lacquer on the two furniture pieces I've built. DO NOT TAKE THE "WELL VENTILATED AREA" LIGHTLY. That's some serious stuff. Both pieces I started out thinking "I'll put 5-6 coats on and make this stuff look goooood." Both pieces I barely made it through two coats and said fuk it. Two coats is still a very dull satin finish but it added protective qualities.

Considering taking a "Gunfighter Carbine" course by Fieldcraft in December. The description is:
Fundamentals of gun fighting, build the warrior mind set and skill sets to effectively shoot, move, and communicate with a carbine.
Just feel like the training I'm getting from the military isn't really too involved and is very baseline (shocker), and I'd like to be more well versed in it. Plus, it's $150 for LEOs, so it's not a bad deal.

Just ordered my first trex arms holster (light compatible sidecar for a glock 19 with surefire300u WML).. I better like it, otherwise money thrown in the trash since they don't accept returns

I guess that means I'm forced to buy the gen 5 19 now.. OH noes!!!!

PS - got the GAP Crusader out for the first time. Barrel has 4200 rounds on it. Was getting 2650 with FGMM. Some fliers in there, but pretty happy given the round count and for the first time behind the rifle.

So I started reading the Colt Trooper thread on M4C after finding a photo there moe asked for yesterday...that damn rifle was as low as $705 shipped from Grab a Gun in September.
