I'll be getting a second G19 Gen4 eventually. Maybe a FS.
I'm guessing they'll remain in production for at least another three years, so no hurry.

Except for the first 17’s in the 80’s when everyone said plastic guns were garbage, wouldn’t work, blah blah blah.

Spending money on good glass doesn't make sense until you can look through and compare expensive to cheap. If you could choke down spending $3k on a 1-2moa rifle, spending the same amount on glass shouldn't give you the shivers.

My BCM is almost 1:1. M14 is 2.5:1. AR10 will be 1:1-2 depending on what discounts I get.

That ratio is of course surely meant to refer to a particular type of setup. My 10/22 does its job perfectly with a ~$30 scope lol. But precision bolt guns and similar, yeah...that gla$$

There's a saying about cost of rifle compared to cost of glass floating around...pretty sure it says they could/should be about even[/QUOTE]I'm aware of the saying. To be honest, repeatability should be favored over glass clarity. If your turrets don't dial and rest properly, clear glass isn't worth chit.
S&B is nearing perfection in both clarity and repeatability. My Nightforce isn't far off of that either, but I've always wanted a Schmidt.
Also to add, it's hard to even match most custom rifles in glass cost, unless you go with certain S&B's, Tangent Theta, or Hensoldt.
My buddy runs a Hensoldt, and holy fuggin hnngggg. That price though.

- new finish is not even remotely as durable as old finish. Like not even in the same ball game.
- trigger seriously isn’t better in any of the Gen 5’s I’ve shot.
- zero backwards compatibility as far as parts go with previous gens (lmao massive fail. One of the hugest selling points of a Glock)
- stupid fuking hole in the grip for operators to “strip” mags from the gun...when this was never an issue at all before. In reality it’s just a really...really really fuking annoying hole that your pinky just falls into.
I mean seriously dude the list of why the Gen 5 is **** is like a mile long. Glock ****ed up on this even worse than the absolutely horrendously thought out MOS Glocks. And that’s saying a lot.

The first time I held it (I’ve posted my impression and I’ll be honest it was pretty disappointing) I felt my finger digging into the cutout while gripping it and felt like the bottom of the grip was getting wider and wider. Didn’t feel natural or as good as the gen 4 for me. I also stated before that the worry before buying a gen4 (before I knew gen 5 was coming) was that the grip would be terrible for my hands but it fit like a glove. So back to the gen 5, I picked one up yesterday to make my final decision and I was amazed at the feel. I tried different grips to figure out how the fack I thought the grip was horrible the first time.
Overall I’m someone who tries to always get the newest model of whatever I can. I don’t have any doubts with any previous generations, just like with cars, but if I can get the newer, I do.
Reading over your post again, I don’t plan on going back on any parts. I don’t plan on switching out anything on my carry gun. Maybe my opinion will change with time, but I feel like it’s best to leave untouched at the time being.

I know you guys do, and you seem pleased with it, so keep on keeping on.....
But damn I can't imagine spending that much on a rifle and then using factory ammo for it and not reloading.
I feel like with handloading and load testing I can get my $1000 Savage to shoot a lot more accurately than I'm capable.

But since you don't have a prior gen or whatever else to compare to, and certainly don't have any spare parts or parts or holster interchangeability to worry about, knock yourself out

I was able to load a pretty good load for my old Tikka, but the rounds never had an SD better than Hornady Match.
Most of the shooting Frank Galli does on the snipershide videos is with Prime ammo. It's really good stuff.

I doubt anybody in here believes you have enough knowledge and experience to share your haven't-even-fired-one-yet evaluation of a pistol.
But since you don't have a prior gen or whatever else to compare to, and certainly don't have any spare parts or parts or holster interchangeability to worry about, knock yourself out

Good match ammo (Hornady ELD Match, PRIME, etc.) is teets. Plus, I save the brass for reloading down the road.
I was able to load a pretty good load for my old Tikka, but the rounds never had an SD better than Hornady Match.
Most of the shooting Frank Galli does on the snipershide videos is with Prime ammo. It's really good stuff.

But already loaded good enough for me. I don't know how but FGMM is some of the most consistently accurate ammo I've ever shot out of dozens of rifles.I know you guys do, and you seem pleased with it, so keep on keeping on.....
But damn I can't imagine spending that much on a rifle and then using factory ammo for it and not reloading.
I feel like with handloading and load testing I can get my $1000 Savage to shoot a lot more accurately than I'm capable.

Yes, the case for reloading is still strong if your talking benchrest. But I'm shootings steel targets that are almost always 1+ MOA. So factory ammo is essentially the same cost as reloading and gets me a load that's "good enough". When I first got into long range shooting I liked to "chase the perfect load". But that gets old quick. Now I like spending my time shooting/practicing.
