The majority of serious lifters get into it in the first place because they're insecure about themselves to begin with, that's the truth whether people here will admit it or not. Naturally, people that are happy with themselves and content with the lives they live will not dedicate their entire lives into having the top 1% bodies out there.

Looking down on someone for not lifting says more about you than it does about anyone else.

Looking down on morbidly obese people though is a different story.

but when morbidly obese people see the problem and want to fix it i have some sympathy for them, but the ones who don't give a chit or preach about self love are pieces of chit

Yeah, discipline, consistency and dedication isn't better than doing drugs or drinking beer every day and spending free time watching television and eating potato chips. Ok.

I don't put anyone down for not lifting. I work my ass off for me, no one else. I do it because I love it and I love the results. What other people do with their own bodies is their business. If someone asks me for advice on lifting or eating I freely give it. I do tell other women to lift and cut out all the extreme cardio if they talk to me about working out but that's the extent of me saying anything that could be taken in a negative light.

I look down on people who have delusions about lifting:

"I don't want to pack on too much muscle"
"I don't lift weights because I don't want to get too big"

Women are especially bad with this but I've known a few guys to pull these lines... dumbasses don't realize how much time and dedication is needed.

If you're ACTUALLY lifting, then yes it is.

Most people don't have the willpower to lift AND diet, or lift hard and push themselves every single day.

That's like saying "Painting ain't hard bruh. Just slap some colors on a canvas" in comparison to a famous painter.

idk man - the benefits you get from lifting and dieting pay dividends all through life.

Being healthy in mind and body does, by definition, make you better than other people.

Plus when bitches see me take my clothes off their panties hit the floor followed closely by their knees. That certainly makes me feel better than any other people.

The biggest dudes I've ever seen at the gym are also the nicest.

IDK about anyone else, but I've been going to the same gym at the same time since it opened in 2002. I know everyone, and either wave/nod or directly say hi to just about everyone. In all honesty, I spend far more time with my "gym friends" than my real life friends. The old ladies all love me.

The douches are the 16-20 year old kids in their knee length wife beaters and invisible lat syndrome. Only big dudes I ever met that were jerks are The Dudley Boys (wrestlers from a while back).

There's one guy that goes to my gym who is pretty strong, but lifting WAY more than he should be handling, definitely throwing body into it. I cringe because I know how easy it is to pull a muscle you're not targeting by doing that ****.

But I haven't seen anyone act like an asshat in the gym. Morning workout crew so everyone is dedicated anyways just because of that. I can't speak for the evening workout crew, but I imagine there are douches there. Every week a piece of equipment is breaking, probably from the evening workout douchebags.

Evening workout crew at my gym is the bro gym rats and the poor dark skinned people

I left my pre workout container and thermos at the sink for 2 minutes while I went to pi$$ and when I came back the preworkout was stolen.

I hate half the night lifters but the other half is great and also, it works best for my schedule

I've become narcissistic because of lifting lately. But I don't know anyone or have any friends so it's just become part of me. Lifting is all I care about anymore. I'm 215 lbs 6'2 and still don't feel comfortable in my skin

I really can't take people who don't take care of themselves seriously though. I haven't always been this way but its pretty sad looking around at ppl

Just lol if you make fun of people for not lifting. If you looked good enough to even make fun of people for not lifting you shouldn´t even have to, just walking around and being bigger than everyone else already gives off a different vibe. No need to be an *******.

To be honest bro most people I meet at the gym are chill as phuck down to earth people.

It's the people that don't lift or have lifted for two weeks that put others down.

Also lifting isn't easy otherwise everyone would be jacked and you can bet everyone on this earth would want to have a great physique.

Firstly finding time to get to the gym 3-4 times a week is too much for people.

Having to be aware of your diet all day every day is too much for people.

Learning proper form takes years.

Learning how to deal with and overcome injuries and impingement takes years.

Pushing the limits of each and every exercise and learning how to activate a muscle until failure is too much for people.

Learning how to read your body and central nervous system and dealing with rest stretching sleep etc is a full time commitment.

Not putting anyone down or bigging up lifting to be some amazing feat but it isn't as easy as sitting down to play a piano when you feel like it. Or going hiking every couple of weeks.

The way I see it is weightlifting or practicing fitness in general ( in a very serious manner ) is a major lifestyle change. I wouldn't call it a hobby.
I can hop on my Xbox anytime and be rewarded almost immediately; however, when it comes to weights and losing fat this takes time. In this, you earn patience, respect for others who have sculpted themselves, self-love, and good overall health and confidence.
F*ck those you rub it in other peoples faces. Do I think I am better than them? Maybe a little, but I am not actively thinking I am better. Do I think it is every man's duty to lift? Yes. Been fat my entire life and I busted my arse to get where I am at and I still have a sh*t tone of work to do. The results make me proud of who I am and give me confidence. Can't help feeling the pride and hitting the weights.

I don't think the fact that you lift or exercise in itself makes you better than other people. However, I feel that people who exercise regularly are more likely to engage in healthier and more productive habits compared to the average person.

just because you don't lift doesn't mean you eat like chit all day every day(all though i know many do). i got my healthy eating habits from my mom and she has never even gone to the gym, she just takes care of her body and runs like twice a week.

This drives me nuts when females say this to me when I recommend lifting. "I'll get huge" I say, "I lift, am I huge?" Of course they say nooooo, you're tiny. I just say Ok then! you should lift! They want to starve themselves and do too much cardio. They need to work smarter not harder. I eat a lot of food. They still won't follow my advice. lol

Sure, anyone who is healthy and not injured/incapacitated can lift. But how many people stick with it? How many people dedicate significant amounts of time to it? Putting in the time and effort it takes to work out, to eat healthy? Not many dude. Not many at all. It is back patting worthy if you have the dedication and drive to live a healthy lifestyle.

The thing I hate is those who judge others for not taking it as seriously as them. You're not in the gym 3 hours a day 7 days a week? You're a non-lifting beta *******. You don't have 24 inch arms? LOL DYEL BOYO

Or the cringey IG fitness culture with pics of lifting and some long ass essay as a caption talking about "the grind" and "the weights are my religion" or "everyday is a new day to challenge yourself (in the gym though cuz I'm a pleb with no other hobbies" or "#fitfam"
