My company regularly does lunches for annual performance reviews... no one is taking an assistant of any kind out to a five star restaurant after hours though.

1. Would he take a male out for the same sort of evaluation?
2. Why wouldn't there be a group? Or do it on lunch?

edit: you know where they're going? tell a friend you'll pay them their dinner if they go there and try to spy on them. this is your best case scenario imo regardless of how creepy it seems.. you don't do nothing and have to live with the lingering doubt and you don't seem like an insecure beta for questioning her.
