this isdisgraceful
i'm incredibly jealous. I've been in crypto since 2013, and have not even made close to what these guys have made off bitconnect (BCC), the ponzi scheme
it's sad people are rolling in hundreds of thousands a month from a scheme, making more than just about anyone in this thread, wtf

this guy for example has made $1 mil in just a few months from loaning on bitconnect

lol except theres never been this much money in cryptos considering the "market cap" is 184B and was 130B just two months ago. People are pulling out of alts and into bitcoin, and i fully expect them to pullout of bitcoin into alts once they get their "free money"

That's how Ponzi's work. Some early people get rich, and the masses follow.

Don't invest in Ponzi's, it's also unethical.

not unethical imo. What IS unethical is referring people to these ponzi schemes as if they're actually legitimate- so many big channels on youtube are guilty of this [Craig Grant, NickCrypto, Terrel Ownen (?), Thomas G]

POW consensus algorithms are still at the mercy of moores law, and bitcoin doesn't seem to be eager to switch its consensus mechanism.

At this point its not about technology anymore though really. People grilled Jamie Dimon on bitcoin, but I agree with him. You don't become the CEO of Chase bank by being a simp.

For everyone holding alts and heavy bags,

times are tough

but whatever you do, just dont sell at a loss.

Everything happens in cycles. These forks will soon be over. More money will pour into the market. People will jump back into the alts. These prices on everything will be a joke in 6 months looking back in hindsight.

No Weak Hands allowed.

Everyone on youtube is making money off of referrals. You dont even need to deposit anything, it's just pyramid schemes have very lucrative affiliate systems.

They don't do lending, or if they do it's only to demo it for youtube so their viewers will go and do the same.

Can confirm. Youtubers use what's called "affiliate links" to get a cut of the profits every time someone uses their link. Don't trust youtubers boyos. They will say anything to get you to buy something because they get a cut of it

It's too late. I'm all in on btc. I am not looking for daily, weekly or even monthly gains. Thinking years down the line. I really do think btc will soar within the next few years.

Yep. I have been a vocal skeptic for years but I know when I am wrong. I was wrong about this. Just getting in when I still have the chance. Got in at 3k, 4k and 5k. Right now 6-7k is too much to go in anymore but if it drops to 5k again post fork I'm buying more.

Goal is to hold 20 coins eventually. Then just sit back and relax for a few years. Not worrying about anything. Just not even paying attention to the rumors/news/etc. Half way to my goal now and if there is a major correction/drop then I am going all in for another 10 coins.

Wish me luck bruhs. I will check back in 3 years (year 2020). See where this ride will take me. Still have a few eth coins but I don't think that is going anywhere. Still hold onto it just in case though.

I hope you guys all make it. Whether it is through the btc/eth or alts/icos. Learned a lot from this thread. Wish you all the best of luck.

It's not about getting rich for me, just raising enough money to finally start my own business/side ventures. To me cryptos are a stepping stone to my actual dreams. I hope it comes true. I know there is a risk but the greater the dream, the greater the risk amarite?

If you wanna take the risk, why not just get into alts and use less money? IMO there is more risk in putting a large amount of money into BTC than putting less into an alt that could potentially earn higher returns.

Maybe I'll have 10+ coins someday if my Eth and/or alt investments outperform BTC. But I'm not gonna sink a chit tonne more cash into BTC.

Not really sure where Eth is going from here though.

People kept saying it was gonna moon after Metropolis... like nothing happened
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Because I don't see btc as much of a risk compared to alts and icos. Plus you have to really be the on the ball with alts. Checking daily, hourly, etc. I just want to stash away and hold for a few years and revisit it later on when I want to cash out.

Depending on how btc shakes out after this fork, I will be done for a while. It is definitely fun reading up on rumors/news and looking up prices but it is a time sink and also stressful. Just gonna keep hoarding btc as it dips until I reach my magic number of ~20. Then I am out for good.

Once I get more familiar with the process and industry I will eventually start working for a few years to get hands on experience.

Then if this crypto thing really takes off, I will cash out and start my own little thing. Even if I just break even and get enough to live off of I will be happy. I just want to do something that brings me joy. Took way too long to realize this. But hey it's a start.

That's a pretty good mix. Still waiting for eth to take off lol. Been waiting for that surge. Maybe someday. But I do think long term eth has potential and holding doesn't seem like a bad idea. Unlike alts that come and go seemingly overnight.

I'm holding a handful of alts; they may well all turn into heavy bags, but still more risk/reward than BTC. My dream scenario is an Eth/Omg/Kyber ecosystem.

Never even heard of kyber before. I swear half the alts you guys talk about I never even heard of. But then again I am not really on the ball with this kind of stuff. Not looking for astronomical gains, would be nice, but just looking for some steady returns within the next few years.

Btc/eth seemed like a good bet at the time. Btc is paying off already. I try not to get sucked into the hype with predictions. Reading all these articles and people proclaiming it will surge past 20k, 30k, 50k, etc in 5 years. Wishful thinking. Would be nice but I am not banking on it.

Even a 2-3x return would be good enough for me. But I know I am preaching to the wrong choir here where everyone is heavily into alts and icos and want 100x returns.

I think most people here are trying to accumulate BTC by moving between alts with faster growth. I'm pretty passive myself, but since I reached my fiat comfort level - will simply shift some BTC around if I wish to invest in new alts.

I would like to hold 10 BTC (in total value), but I'd need Eth to outperform BTC for a while to get there - right now my BTC value is dropping while $ is staying steady. My goal for the forks was to have my $ remain steady, because I didn't wanna jump into BTC and then try time it perfectly to get back out to catch alt gains.

Not sure what I'll do for the upcoming fork, but here is what I think would've been the optimal path for gains:

-at fork hold alts for the initial pump
-jump into btc while it's down
-hold btc while alts pulled back
-jump back into alts for second wave the next day
-move back to btc

Might do this or just move to tether.
