If you consider billiards a sport....a good argument could be made for billiards. Geometry, future positions and strategies...
In terms of athletic sports, there is definitely a mind game to tennis that is underrated.

Lol at people mentioning team sports.
Tennis by a long way. There is a reason the top players are so stoic, it is a mental chess match lasting multiple hours.

its gotta be a team sport. you just don't think about what you're doing, you're thinking about your teammates abilities and what they can do as well.

All sports require fuk all intelligence, so I think it's a moot point anyway.
I'll probably go with NFL - QB, if I had to make a choice.

High skill but intelligence? There is pretty much one way to play every course, you just have to execute.

It depends on the level you're playing on.
High-level professional MMA requires an insane amount of fight IQ just to stay conscious. But an idiot with a decent chin can see some success at the local YMCA.

I'm not sure running REQUIRES intelligence, but the distance running teams I see at schools almost universally have the highest GPAs. Perhaps because it's a sport of intensely delayed gratification, which--as per the Stanford Marshmallow Test--we see in those with higher IQs.
ETA: if we're talking boxing, uh... ya may start out smart but ya won't stay that way. Dat head trauma.

I don't think fighting requires huge intelligence. It's more of a spatial awareness and physical conditioning sport. I'd say probably Chess (yes, it's considered a sport by the International Olympic Committee).
