How many of you are actually doing the 1 REP max?

Keep in mind people max the BP and very few max OHP.

When I had my 345 BP I did sets of 8 at 195 for ohp.

THEORETICALLY that is 242... Never went more than 205 in IRL though.

Shoulders are okay, chest strength is chit tho. I only ever hit 3 plates (not only but you get the point) so we all have our strengths mate.

To the guy a few posts back, I think 225ohp = 350 bench more like, or in that region.

We’re all gonna make it anyway brahs, keep at it breddah!

Well I feel that ohp is the lift mostcsensitive to changes in bodyweight, i.e. while on a cut it would probably be the hardest lift to maintain strength on

With that said, use times when eating at maintenance or in a surplus to get strong at it. First, perfect your form. Glutes squeezed, abs tight, upper back tight, etc. Watch videos and practice

From there just choose a simple rep scheme like 3-4x8 or whatever you prefer and make sure to track each week. It’s relatively easy to hit 3 sets of 8 for example then add a 1lb microplate each side the following week. If 2lbs is too much, add 1.5 or even 1 but stay consistent and don’t ever regress. Ofcourse make sure you’re eating at least 300 cals over maintenance in the first place

Cliffs: Train the movement and use a simple rep scheme for progression with microplates

I also like to keep my bra on. (no shirt)

Yea I haven't been focusing on it, been doing a bunch of bench variations for almost a month and a half and one random day I decided to ohp, I hit a 15lb Pr.
Incline Bench I find is the best assistance lift for it, I stopped OHP for a while and replaced with incline, hit a 40lb PR when I started again quickly.

Lol **** no I stopped at 205 was 235 at the time. I press once every other week 160-165 x 5 3-5 sets. Haven't done them consistently like before. I bench way way more than I press. After this last sheiko prep month I'll go back to pressing twice a week hopefully get 225ish in 8 or so weeks.

BW of 165lbs... i think the most i did was 175lbs...

I don't train for one rep max so could def get it a little higher.

i alternate between dumbbells and barbell, heavy side laterals for every shoulder workout. I usually do side delts first and pressing next... but recently switched it up to get my press numbers up.

Ohp is my fav and strongest lift, currently working with 165*4 reps at 140lbs bw.

I always had strong shoulders but i used progressive overload and tons of compound lifts, also hand stand pushups help alot

Not even once strict.

Went from 135 x1 with to 185x1 in about 9 months on 5/3/1 but I weighed about 220 at the time. Felt like I was gonna die so I didn't do any maxes after that and stuck with submaximal weights for reps.

Back on 5/3/1 now looking forward to them ohp gains

I used to OHP my bodyweight but I haven't lifted in a while. Right now it's all cardio, bodyweight exercises, and MMA training.

Most people find it hard because it takes a hell of a lot of core strength for your back not to cave in when it comes to heavier weights and it does take time to develop this. If all you do for shoulder pressing is seated dumbbells or the smith machine you're in for a rude awakening. I also think it is heavily dependant on body weight. I always see light guys lifting huge numbers on squats and deadlifts but very rarely do I see a lightweight guy that has a freakish OHP. My OHP suffers a lot even if I lose a few pounds.

Yep, but slightly narrow grip though, recruiting more triceps than shoulder.

Weighted dips help a lot in achieving bodyweight ohp
