You act like he was telling the guy to pass a Harvard entrance exam. How hard is it to crawl to someone? He was told not to do anything that the officer didn't tell him to do and if he did it would (not could) result in him getting shot. He was warned..

It's an unfortunate situation but he reached to his back pocket. Out of all the things he could have done that is probably the worst.

It's a tragic situation but to call this murder is ridiculous.

lol are you trolling? This case aside--which I do side with the majority--how the fuk are cops NOT paranoid? Let's not cloud our judgement, in many cities and areas they have to be paranoid if they want still come home every day. We don't want a force of second-guessers because it's the pop thing to just blanket all cops are trigger happy murderers - courtesy of your antagonizing, headline hunting mainstream media.

Hands above your head, turn around, walk backwards slowly to the sound of my voice. That's simple and how I was trained.

the kid clearly had a mental breakdown. yeah he reached and is possible he could have a gun in his waistband. they got called in for a firearm.

he was probably drunk and his shorts were falling off. natural reaction of skinnyfats because of there wide waist and small glutes. and he clearly had weak pecs his crawling was retarded.

lifting would have saved his life

So this is Brailsford, the scared little ******* who executed Daniel Shaver. Note the tattoo sleeves intended to add menace to an otherwise pathetic frame and effeminate face. What a fuking coward. I know these types. Usually picked on as kids and given the power of life and death they tend to overcompensate under stress. He had all the control but reacted like that scared child he is inside. The cop over complicated a simple matter.

I don't see why he didn't train he's gun on the bloke while he's partner handcuffed him?

stand and walk backwards is a horrible strategy when there may be people waiting on the other side down the hall ready to shoot you. Criminals will use other criminals and civs for cover. Crawling was the correct move here. Screaming at him and losing his composure was not.

No, they have to be properly trained and experienced, so as to NOT get paranoid while on duty.

Paranoia and law enforcement is a dangerous combination for officer and civilian alike.

So unlike some I watched the video and both the female and the male were surprised to see the cops and we're scared chitless. They tried to follow instructions but because of adrenaline and the fight or flight response the instructions were confusing to the dude. With at least 2 officers on the scene it is hard to justify killing the dude when he could have been approached with his head looking down at the carpet. This was not a grenade or suicide vest situation.

American police need better firearm training.

I don't know what they teach them, but that was not good.

Doesn't help when you literally scream at someone barking different instructions until the point that they are actually having a panic attack and probably don't know what the fuk they are doing.

Suspect should not have been reaching to pull his pants up.

Though this could have been handled a lot better by the officers. Why not have the suspect get on his knees with his hands on his head with fingers interlocked and legs crossed with his back turned to the officers? Then, that way, secure the suspect and this could have been avoided.

They definitely seemed genuinely like “what in gods fuk did we even do??” but I definitely underdstand why the cops were called and why the cops were so cautious.

I dont know much about proper cop procedure but that seemed poorly handled to me. With that said, the dude was specifically warned not to reach to that exact location multiple times...

very unfortunate but i dont think the cop should be charged with murder

Justice of Peace.

Brb giving retarded orders.

Brb threatening to kill someone if they fall the wrong way.

Theres no way to reasonably expect someone to follow instructions like that under a high stress situation and avoid common natural reactions.

Fukn retarded.

you sound like the type who would be the first to squeeze the trigger out of pure fright of being in a real life situation like this, where you have reason to believe the person has a gun and they reach to their lower back.

-Keep your hands straight up in the air
-CRAWL towards me

If you total fukcing idiots cant see how retarded these instructions are it kind of makes sense you are defending the officer. The kid is scared ****less, probably is panicking like hell, has some roid raging highschool drop out literally SCREAMING at the top of his lungs TELLING HIM HES GONNA SHOOT HIM and on top of that the directions are totally contradictory, and hes not allowed to ask questions remember?

He clearly starts to crawl because the retarded officer tells him to CRAWL. His pants fall down and he instinctively reaches to pull them up... you can see all this happen literally right as he is shot.

This kind of **** has to end. If an officer is too retarded to read a situation correctly like in this instance, there needs to be CLEAR nationwide rules regarding when to use legal force. And im sorry but "im afraid" is not one.

In an instance where there is more than one officer at the scene, id support a law that a gun has to be visualized first before shooting. theres just too many of these stories going on to support the current rules of engagement.

How can you even compare the two? In one video the officer has NO control, is approaching the suspect, and the suspect is not compliant. Officer alone

In Shaver... murder... the officer is in control the entire time, the kids shaking in his underwear, theres multiple offficers, and hes compliant. These are two totally different scenarios

The pig is an idiot. He should have just walked over and arrested him. Seems like the pig is a spineless civil servant.

Should have been charged with murder.

Two armed cops approach two unarmed, scared chitless, 99.9% compliant civilians (that 0.1% being a mistake out of fear) and they end up killing one. Lmao at cop apologists defending this. They'll die on the sword before they admit anything.

he made a reaching and dangerous motion, but the cop told him put his hands up and then put his hands down behind his back making his arms travel across his waist, over and over again back and forth, it was bound to happen again by reflex and muscle memory outside of the cops orders, especially with all the stress and panic from both parts fueling the situation till its so tense that it escelates and he makes a wrong move

predictable and ****ty situation

I'd also like to point out that, while the cop gave some confusing and contradictory statements (keep your hands up - crawl towards me), the guy didn't get shot for that contradiction so it's not really important here. You can call that poor training, or poor tactics or whatever, but the guy didn't get shot when he put his hands down to crawl. Obviously that would have been just outrageous and yeah the cop should be shot on sight IF that was the case.

The guy got shot because he started to put his hands where it was extremely clear he was not supposed to. Nobody in the world that can understand English could have possibly misunderstood the instruction of where to not put your hands.

I'm not telling you it's going to be easy. In fact, it'll probably be one of the hardest things you'll ever do. But I'm telling you it's going to be worth it."
