Mary Poppins Returns
And how much you wanna bet that these same twats would always be the first in line to screech, "Godwin's Law!", even if it was literally a discussion about literal Adolf Hitler?
You don't see 1939 building a time machine to travel to 2017 to slap the dicks out of Polygon's collective mouths.
As I'm typing this, I'd guess that Polygon's writing staff is basically a fatter, more lonely version of that purple haired bint who looks like she has sand in her vage.

Fookin' cripes. They even have their own fat asian chick, no wonder why they're taking this so personally.

Rotten tomatoes has directly contradicted this statement by openly confirming that they've analyzed traffic to the site and have not detecting anything suspicious.

After I’d seen The Last Jedi and had a day to chew on what I thought of it, I decided that TLJ isn’t one movie; it’s two movies: the Jedi movie, and the Resistance movie. The Jedi plot was a great movie, with a ton of new, interesting ways of looking at the franchise, and got me excited for the possibilities of what we can see in Episode 9, though there were still some problems, however minor. The Resistance movie, on the other hand, was quite bad, with little to redeem it.
Jedi:
Good:
Mark Hamill's acting was the strongest of his career. Go, Mark!
Adam Driver's Kylo Ren continues to be the reason to watch this new trilogy. The character is riveting.
The mental link between Kylo and Rey was brilliant, growing story possibilities with every scene.
Luke's confrontation with Kylo on Crait, seeing Luke at the height of his powers, brushing dust off his shoulders after the blaster barrage, and its final twist. Awesome.
Seeing Yoda again was an unexpected joy. Seeing him again as a puppet was even better.
The lightsaber battle in Snoke's throne room was really cool!
Bad:
Rey continues to be a textbook Mary Sue. She has no flaws. At all. She doesn’t just have perfect competence in everything she tries, she bests the most powerful Force Master of all time, Luke Skywalker, repairs and pilots the Falcon better than Han Solo, fights off multiple Praetorian Guards, who are presumably trained to do nothing but kill in close combat, and does all these things with zero training. She is utterly uninteresting in her perfection.
Snoke’s demise was abrupt and surprising, which is fine, but the manner in which it happens after he puts on such a spectacle of dark Force mastery made Snoke look like a chump.
Neither Kylo nor Rey gave up anything to defeat Snoke. Compare that with Luke’s defeat of the Emperor, where Luke had to sacrifice the father he’d been seeking to save.
Luke's almost-attempted-child-murder of Kylo Ren. That is not something Luke Skywalker would ever do. Period.
Luke's pointless death. Why did he commit suicide, or transcend or whatever at the end of the movie? He just admitted by his interference on Crait that the Jedi were necessary, and yet he offs himself as the only living Jedi Master? That seems self-indulgent and foolish if he wants Rey to carry on the Jedi tradition.
The Resistance
Good:
Some really great shots of the space battles. The hyperspace shot was *gorgeous* to look at.
Bad:
Rose. The character didn't need to be in the movie. She was cringeworthy when she was on screen. The only purpose she served was to derail what could have been the most meaningful death in the film. I can't help but think she was added to the cast in the name of diversity or pandering to the Asian market. She's not Jar-Jar Binks bad, but that's also the only other Star Wars character that I can draw a parallel with. I really, really hated her, and I hated the plot for making me think she was dead and then yanking that away from me.
Speaking of the possible meaningful death--Rose's explanation for stopping Finn's sacrifice, "We won't win by destroying what we hate. We'll win by saving what we love," sounds fine in isolation, but when you put it after her assinine crash into Finn to prevent the destruction of the battering ram gun, the context makes it ridiculous. With the information Rose had, all she did was keep Finn alive for a few more seconds (those AT-ATs were right there looking at them, with plenty of fire and smoke to point out their position), and doom the remainder of the Resistance to death backed into a hole in the ground as the gun opened up the gate. With her actions, she was destroying what she loved. Completely nonsensical, and the final nail in the coffin of my regard for the character. Please let her die off screen before Episode 9.
The entire Canto sub-plot was unnecessary if Vice Admiral Holdo had just told Poe what the plan was. "That could work," Poe agreed. There goes 45 minutes of the movie onto the cutting room floor. That part of the movie was just shoehorned in to give Rose and Finn something to do while the Resistance fleet was being slowly shot apart.
Speaking of Canto, that whole sequence felt like a kid's movie, with lots of movement and exclaiming. Wish I'd been forewarned so I could have used that as bathroom break.
Canto was a ham-handed statement about how all rich people are evil. "There's only one way you get that rich...selling weapons to the First Order." Seriously? Do we all have a 4-year-old's understanding of economics now?
Leia's use of the Force to save herself. Like Rey in TFA, Leia just suddenly becomes a competent force user, with no explanation or training. How hard would it have been for her to have a one-sentence explanation after she survived? Unearned competence just isn't how life works, and you're lying to your audience when you make it part of your story.
Plot holes: If only one First Order ship could follow the Resistance Fleet through hyperspace, why didn't the Resistance Fleet just split up? Why didn't Resistance crewmen abandon their ships before they ran out of fuel and were shot to pieces? Why didn't the First Order just leap half their fleet through hyperspace to in front of the Resistance fleet, and catch them in a vise? If the Resistance flagship could be evacuated and used as a lightspeed missile, why didn't they just plan to use that as a weapon the whole time? In a universe with sentient AI, why does a Resistance flag officer have to go down with her ship when they could have left a droid there to do it, and what "piloting" was there to do? Put a brick on the gas and GTFO.
Why would Leia's big "plan" to escape the First Order fleet be to flee into an inescapable hole in the ground, no matter how thick the door was? Has she never heard of starvation siege strategy? Again, if she had told Poe what the plan was, Finn would have piped up, "Oh, that's a bad idea. The First Order has this huge battering ram thing."
Phasma still has had nothing to do in this trilogy. Mentally remove her from the plot of both movies, replace her interactions with unnamed characters, and what changes? Nothing.
The first 30-45 minutes of this movie were pretty boring. I went with a group of 16 of my friends and two of them fell asleep and slept through half the movie--no kidding.
Ackbar's death was inexcusable. He's an important secondary character, and as someone else mentioned, Vice Admiral Holdo could have been easily replaced with Ackbar and how much better would that have been to see Ackbar sacrifice himself?

Funny that you mentioned that, because...
...They weremaking everything upas they went along.
If that doesn't tell everyone what a vacuous excuse for a cash-grab Episode VIII was, there's no hope left in the galaxy. This was the movie release equivalent of a focus group test, except the testeeswere the ones paying the testers. Then they bought a hundred f**king porgs, because the Lucasfilm division had a bet with Marvel studios on who could beat Baby Groot.
So anyone who felt this was a direct insult to their intelligence, congratulations, you were right! Seriously, from a narrative perspective alone, howdo you tease this grand, epic, interconnected journey withoutanykind of basic outline or plan for just thenextiteration in the series? This just seems like basic writing 101 that should be expected in the modern era of storytelling; even George Lucas originally hadsomesemblance of a bloody plan, hence starting at EpisodeIV, but these dumb-dumbs went in making a cookie-cutter blockbuster that is designed for quarterly reports and appeasing the cultists over any substantial cinematic merit that will be appreciated years from now.
That ~50 minute RedLetterMedia video has some good discussion going on, and towards the latter fourth of the video they make an especially valid point as to how there is a palpable marketing veneer overeverythingpertaining to these new Star Wars movies. For the faults of the older films, there was always a sense ofsomesort of artistic process going on, for better or worse, whereas anything pertaining to this new trilogy is akin to watching a HappyMeal commercial. Those reactions by Luke Hamill are about as real as it will ever get from here on out.
It's pretty damn insane, and you can see the Rian Johnson quote above in my response to DASBUNKER: They hadno fooking clue, a blank slate, tabula rasa, carte blanche, and the best potential talent that Disney's money can buy... and thebestthat whatever quarter-shy of a halfwitput togetherlot of writers could come up with wasnothing.
Rey reallyisa Mary Sue, and Snoke is just some old space-wizard with a fleshlight for a forehead. They're even giving Rian Johnsonthreeentire movies of his own, and this chucklehead couldn't even throw a dart at wall or something.
But hey, at least Disney gave the worldporgs!God help us all if we didn't have what is essentially just a Furby with a mouth in Star Wars.
The worst thing about all of this is expect Disney to crap out a yearly reminder that they figuratively cuckolded one of the most recognized movie franchises in the world. And if this Disney-Fox merger goes through, oh, we areso screwed, because that means Disney will also hold the rights to The X-Files, Firefly, The Simpsons, Always Sunny, Die Hard, PredatorandAlien, Planet of the Apes, Independence Day, and much, much more.
Mate, I am so goddamn sick of the word "Resistance" at this point because it's been overused in every single medium todeath. It's just so bloody non-committal, like "we're just going toget in their way a bit," but they don'treallyknow what their actualgoalis, pretty much like Occupy Wall Street.
In Star Wars' particular case, you're absolutely right, and they never bothered to specify how this fancy new galactic republic could have a "resistance" against a small, fringe outfit of leftovers who they already defeated. Plus, all it takes is a quick google search to figure out whatthe last rebel group's official name was all about, and usethatas the bar to work up from.
(Just a testament to how nonexistent the story is in the new trilogy, wikipediatells you more about wtf is going on than the actual movies).
Cliffs:
Spoiler!
- Empire is defeated at Endor
- Former Imperial worlds join Rebels to form "New Republic"
- Remaining Imperials try to counter-attack, fail
- Imperials retreat to outer rim of the galaxy
- New Republic notices this, but says, "Nah, they're not a threat. We've got purple haired chicks to listen to or something."
- Imperial remnants have a cold war with the New Republic and expand
- New Republic divided between populists led by Leia and centralists, who eventually peace-out to join what becomes the First Order
- New Republic is now mostly run by poosies who are, like, only into peace and demilitarize
- Some guy whose face looks like he got literally skull-f**ked by R. Lee Ermy shows up, takes charge
- New Republic is still, like, into hemp and turquoise and whatever, so Leia forms her own private army, a.k.a. "The Resistance" to combat the First Order's growing military on the side.
- Various members of New Republic back up "The Resistance" on the side, but as a whole, the New Republic's policy remains, "Sit on the sidelines like a little b*tch."
Cliffs of cliffs: "The Resistance" is not some scrappyrebelunderdog, so much as an intergalactic private military company formed to circumvent the intergalactic equivalent of the UN if it was run entirely by women and limp-wristed men.
Everything before "the Resistance" part is just "what if World War II was in space?", which could have actually been an great premise for TFA, but JJ Abrams doesn'tdoexplaining, or writing, or resolving jack-sh*t; the guy only knows how to throw a mystery wrapped in a riddle that ends in a cliffhanger at people, then never actually deliver upon the built up expectations with anything of greater substance than the sum of its loose threads.
Likewise, Disney needed space princesses and toys, not future-WWII... also, the idea of Disney basically endorsing actual space-Nazi analogues would not exactly fly, especially with Walt Disney's history of prejudices.
Spoiler!
Plus,"Heil Hauptsturmführer Phasma"doesn't have the same ring to it.
So the real story is that the New Republic was so grossly incompetent that they ignored an entire planet being turned into a third f**king death star, which was then used to blow most of them up, and "the Resistance" is collective private military who couldn't actually agree on a proper name because they didn't want to come off astooconfrontational.

"Benson, who is the Vice President of Communications at Fandango, the parent company of Rotten Tomatoes, told me that Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes are fully confident in the ratings and scores for the Star Wars picture. She assured me that Rotten Tomatoes has gone to great lengths to verify their ratings' accuracy and authenticity.
“We have several teams of security, network, and social database experts who constantly monitor reviews and ratings to ensure that they are genuine,” Benson said. “They haven’t seen anything unusual with The Last Jedi, except that there has been an uptick in the number of written user reviews submitted. Aside from that, everything is normal and we don’t see any unusual activity. We looked at The Last Jedi compared to other blockbusters and it has been consistent with those past films.”

box office drop is real brahs 69%. Also, mark hamill says he regrets his criticisms lmao Disney stay mad. Also, disney is prepared for the Han Solo movie to bomb. Its supposed to come out in 6 months.
The movie took in an estimated $68.4 million by Sunday and earned $100.6 million by Monday, according to BoxOfficeMojo. That continues to keep pace behind "The Force Awakens" (about a 25% to 30%) and ahead of last year's "Star Wars" release, "Rogue One" (20% to 25%), but its steep 69% decline from the movie's $220 million opening weekend last week was historic.

I wonder if that report about the Solo movie is true. That the main actor sucks dink so they are writing it off as a loss.

"At first, I didn't like the direction was going because I had preconceived notions of what Luke should be. After reading the whole script and pocessing it for a while, I realized that it's the best possible thing that could happen to luke"
what you see
"I hate the direction luke is going. I can't believe they bastardized the character so much"
Such selective listening.

There is simply no other exercise, and certainly no machine, that produces the level of central nervous system activity, improved balance and coordination, skeletal loading and bone density, muscular stimulation and growth, connective tissue stress and strength, psychological demand and toughness, and overall systemic conditioning as the correctly performed full squat.

It was pretty horrible. Leia flying through outer space was ridiculous, killing her off right there would have been amazing. They could have salvaged the film with an awesome Luke vs Kylo battle (with kylo winning) but they just took a huge dump on it. Snoke dying had no impact since he was essentially a minor character at that point.
I didnt like Rogue One, but Vader at the end was the payoff.
The Han Solo movie will likely bomb. Why not a Jedi Civil War movie (kotor fans will know wussup), Knights of Ren (which was barely referenced in TLJ) anything else really.
Havent seen a single lightsaber fight except for that meh one at TFA. Just give us a movie of that

I personally do not have faith in Disney to produce anything good when it comes to Star Wars after TLJ. Hated it to the point I am boycotting Disney, will not be spending a dime on anything of theirs.
