One of the lady's friends was in a car wreck in her hometown tonight, currently in a coma. Going to see her tonight to say potential last goodbyes. I don't know her, but happy wife, happy life, so a last minute road trip is in order. Life is weird boyos, cherish every second (she is 20).

Oh jeez that's awful. And scary.
I've been dealing with this guy at work who has unmanaged diabetes, and pretty much comes to work in a stuper, like doesn't know his name or the year, I have to bring the ambulance in to get him about every other week. The scary part is, he drives himself there, how many more people like that are on the road.

GL man, that's sad $hit.

Tire wear is not something dependent on the brand, it is based on the compound more than anything. Sure cheap tires have wear issues, etc but a snow tire is going to wear faster than a regular tire. Or the mud tires on my truck will last forever because they are hard and have a ton of tread. I've always bought tires based on traction and nothing else. Tires on my GTO are great for dry/wet roads and terrible for cold weather because I never drive I think in those conditions. Set of mud tires for non winter conditions (they are **** in snow), and AT tires that are awesome in snow/ice.
I've noticed on Michelin tires they have a softer compound that lasts about 25-30k and you have quieter tires etc. after that wears off the lower compound is made of diamonds and unobtainium moon metal or something and they pretty much just stop wearing but get a little louder. I seriously got rid of set with 90k on that were not down to the wear bars, but were getting pretty weather cracked.

I have an aunt like this, just last week she drove herself home from my grandmas completely blind. She drove "off of memory"... she is proud of herself, the rest of the family is a bit upset about the fact she could've killed any number of bystanders.

A buddy of mine worked in a tire store when he was younger. He swears he took off a set of Michelins that had 100k on them

My set that went 90k were on a 2door Ford Explorer 2wd. The set I took off my 4Runner in the spring when I did the lift were still decent with 72k and that's on a 6000lb truck. They probably had another 20K at least. Kinda felt bad getting rid of them, but looked goofy with a bunch of fenderwell gap.

Wow. That’s nuts.

We pulled a set of tires off my wife’s Jeep with 5/32 left on them at 72,000 miles. Only reason we pulled them off is because we were headed into winter. If it was summer Inprobably would have let them ride.

While we’re talking tires....people that buy chit, cheap tires piss me the **** off.

Or people driving on bald, falling apart ****. I believe police should be able to declare that vehicle a public safety concern and impound that car

IIRC many (most, all?) states have minimum dread depth laws and I think that is actually a possibility (was something that came up with the car guys when driving worn drag radials or ET streets or worse around town)

I really like Trijicon HD.

The front sight (I go for the yellow) jumps out big and bright and obvious as **** during the day, even without being charged with light before hand, and the rear is basically blacked out with a nice u shape notch that has some space in it around the front sight. And tritium for lower light conditions of course. I really like the ones with green tritium vial up front and yellow tritium in the rear but they are a lot harder to find

When it’s not raining, I ride a bike pretty much everywhere...work, gym, groceries, etc.

When I’m waiting at a busy intersection for the signal to change, I look around and check out the stopped vehicles around me for tread wear. Balding tires are real common.

Sometimes I’ll see a car with the tread completely worn off. It’s usually a Nissan Sentra or similar Honda.

Yeah Naperville is a nicer suburban area farther from all the ghettoes of Chicago

I like this sidecar and all but I want a holster I can carry at 3-5, it’s hard to pick crap up and be as flexible with work needs using the sidecar and I still have to cut a lot.


The biggest sacrifice without the sidecar would be not being able to reach as quickly while driving and not having an extra mag at appendix.

Any suggestions? It’s a glock 19 with a surefirex300u-A

UT Is like that. Your car can be impounded for unsafe operating equipment, or can be issued a “fix-it” ticket requiring proof of repair within 30 days. You can also be denied insurance coverage if you wreck your car on bald tires, and a slide is what initiated the wreck.

CO has no yearly state inspection, so people cruise on bald/corded tires more often than I’ve ever seen.

You have officially out cheaped me on necessities. When I'm driving in my gas guzzler 6mi each way and I stop at stop lights I check out all the bikes with bald tires. Usually huffys and mongooses. Not srs

I know IL has tread depth law. Pretty much if you get down to the wear bar on a radial they are not safe to drive on and will easily hydroplane if you hit a puddle.


Also green only for night sights for me. Longest life span at 7+ year half life. I just like being able to see it in the dark on my nightstand. I have a light for target illumination.

I've never lived in a state that inspected vehicles.

We have emissions here since we are close enough to the city, but it's just the OBD type plug in and gas cap fume test or whatever the ****

Back in IN I passed emissions when my Z28 had no catalytic converters at all...just program the computer correctly

das it mane, i want to eventually buy a bolt action 50 bmg.

the barrett model 99 retails at around $4000.00. but im second guessing if want that, or a semi auto belt fed .308

We have emissions testing no inspections. It's a joke. Unplug negative terminal of battery a block away and hook it back up. All codes cleared and gtg. Had to do that on my Jeep because of mods that made me throw weird codes until I could get it figured out.

this would.never get by in commie fornia. Brb checking codes running engine through a series of tests etc. Sucks.
