Fake Coinbase screenshot saying XRP, Monero and Dash going on Coinbase next. Ended up being BCH. XRP went from like $0.2 to 0.8 very quickly. Then devs do a quick Q&A followed by huge banking announcement. The flurry of news and misinformation just seems too convenient.

The worst part is that there’s positive incentive to release/spread fake news. Coins rise dramatically on rumors and then correct, but to new levels. The IOTA partnership lies, has set it into new higher levels.

Attention and hype in any form is feeding value. Only time and maturity will resolve this. But my main fear is that the entire market is waaaayyy overpriced due to this already.

This. I think the seed was sowed by IOTA. They were clever though, they’d mix it in with genuine news and make people confused as to whether the fake news was real and vice versa. Very smart. Ever since then most of the posts (especially in this particular thread) have been re: what coin is going to be pumped next and when the announcement is going to be. Nobody seems to question why a dev would announce an announcement. It doesn’t seem like this was common practice a few months ago but now it’s all “wraith in 2 days, buy XVG and pack your bags..”, XRP Q&A household names etc etc.

I hope BTC recovers. It’s been on a ride to hell since late November.

crypto isint rocket surgery, when things are quiet and near lows is when you buy it, if its already a green rocket candle just forget it. when people badmouth a coin and make a meme out of it are also good buy signals.
I bought it and several other alts because the charts of most of the alt coins were forming a sideways wedge of sorts. all of those are at least 2-3x up now, but xrp is up 11x, and there definitely weren't any signs that that was going to happen or I would have put way more into it, I was expecting a price rise on all of them but this is just nuts. I expect it all to 2-3x again too as we push past the trillion dollar market cap total on our way to the crypto equivalent of the .com blow off top frenzy.oh fk yes, but hang on cause I think we are going to see even higher batchit insane levels of pricing before this is finished with.
there is actually quite a lot on the line with btc because its a proof of concept that a digital token can perform the role of a store of value. if it fails then that premise is invalidated and we only have one shot at this.

other coins are useful for buying your daily coffee, but btc is best used like gold reserves, just sitting there being stupid expensive and rarely moving it around. but hardly anyone understands this apparently.

Total market cap is misleading for these kinds of things, it's not representative of the money used to buy bitcoin.

It's unlikely, but entirely possible, that $100 million dollars can push up the market cap of a coin up from $1 billion to $100 billion, or make it go from $100 billion to $1 billion.
