If you've known someone for 12 years, there should be two constants:

1) You are able to communicate to each other wants and needs. If there's a problem, it has to be aired out.
2) You should be able to respect each other enough to not be *******s to one another. I understand a lot of couples start bitching in their later years but it's really immature and commonality is not necessarily a good thing.

So as neither of those are occurring, you're done I'm afraid. Sucks that you can be friends for so long but can't communicate.
