I think in the end, she comes out the winner.

Unless some sad fuks decide to book with the hotel because "lolz I love how you treated that youtube sloot".

She's the one getting hits and subscribers, which side sounds more pathetic?

but like what LaCosaNostra90 mentioned, this hotel is a location-based business, and it's very unlikely that any of the chick's followers would ever even go to the city where the hotel is located (let alone even go to the hotel itself). now, if the influencer herself was from the same city and her content was relevant to things in her area, then maybe -- but this bish is a 'beauty' influencer.

plus, this hotel (and owner) is notorious for things like this (they pulled a similar stunt with a vegan or w/e before), so they know what they're doing on the publicity front, and i'm sure that pays way better than using an 'influencer' with a tiny following (and yes, 80k on IG is indeed a small following).

let's say their marketing sucks and influencer blogs about this to her 150k+ audience, which prob has other travel bloggers that will later check it out with their 150k+ audience and it snow balls. would you agree that the price for reach is justified?

If he didn't like it the correct response should have been I'm sorry but social media is not in our current marketing strategy at this time so politely decline your offer. However we would love to have you as a guest here in our hotel and I'll be glad to give you the best service possible.

Or if he liked the idea he could have just made a simple professional counter offer while I can't give you free accommodation I would be glad to exchange your services for a 30% discount off of our normal booking rates if you would like to discuss this further please let me know.
shut up, she was demanding and expected to have things go in her way approaching a ****ing hotel .

That's reasonable. My point is why would people have a problem with her making a business offer.

It could be any business she had not just social media. You have to start somewhere.

100% of shots not taken don't go in.

Miscers miss that mindset quite a lot especially when it comes to women.

she's mostly a beauty blogger. look at her content, her ratio of travel content to beauty content is really low.

and you're contradicting yourself in this thread now. earlier you said you can track metrics, but how do you track metrics on brand awareness? at the end of the day, businesses care about their bottom line (which includes conversion rates). brand awareness doesn't mean chit (seriously, ask any veteran marketer and they will tell you the same).

did brand awareness get my business from $0 - $1million+ in revenue in less than 6 months? nope.

and i seriously doubt this hotel wants brand awareness. they most likely (i'm assuming here so you might actually be right) have an advertising strategy already in place that has higher returns than if they were to use an influencer, and like i mentioned already, this hotel is notorious for stunts like this. they take the "i dont give no fuks" donald trump attitude and they get a lot of great publicity with it.

so it could all very well just be a part of their positioning to be *******s to influencers (like i said, each business uses a different strategy) .

lol seriously, i have an architecture client right now wants social/branding strategy.. not because they want to bring in new customers, i mean their customers are million dollar budgets.. they want to have a minimal and modern aesthetic to their social because it plays a part in the image of their brand.

i'm working with another hotel client local to me who wants social media / influencer marketing, they don't need conversion rates, they are already established and successful. they want to brand reach and again an aesthetic image to their brand.

When you accept that there's hundreds of millions of hyper-materialistic zombies walking the earth, you start to appreciate social media hustlers more.

It's a game to be played.

ok, she was expecting to have her stay at a hotel at her chitty 86k subs which it clearly has no impact. oh look at me i have 86k subs and i would like to stay in your hotel to bring traffic? ( now imagine that with 86k subs,....i'd say **** off. if we are talking 5m subs, then you are in)

and the owner is like who the **** are u exactly? (its probably at a point where he got really sick and tired of people and their social media influences expecting handouts, bitch i can advertise my own chit and i dont need you)

hence the reply, so ok if i do that, whos gonna pay for my workers accommodating you blah blah. yes he came off childish but god, i can see his side. i am also sick of social media retard *******s everywhere. it just rustles my god damn jimmies.

lol thanks. This shouldnt even be such a heated debate. The takeaways are:

-youtuber makes poor social media offer to hotel company for exposure
-hotel company overreacts
-youtuber gets millions of views and thousands of new subscribers
-hotel gets some support and added exposure anyways

I wouldn't say theres anything wrong with her reaching out, I think she just came off a bit rude in her approach. It didn't seem like she asked if they would allow her to stay for free in exchange for social media exposure. She comes off more as saying this is the deal, are you interested. And her follow up of posting it to social media, just more proof of her lack of tact and negotiation;

The end result is much better exposure for the hotel. Some IG sloot posting pictures of the pool wouldn't persuade me to use any services or hotel, but seeing the cheekiness of the hotel manager absolutely would. The hotel manager had every right to expose her and shut down her delusions. I, for one, am glad he did.

take supreme for example.. you think the hype around supreme wasn't built around brand marketing? ffs
how EXACTLY do you track where that growth is coming from? so you're saying if a brand decides to use an influencer and they see a steady increase then that growth is attributed to that specific influencer alone? so if i were to go to a company that already had visible growth on their social media platforms, i could tell them to use an influencer and then take all the credit for it because that influencer gave them that 'growth'? please correct me if i'm mistaken here.

so how EXACTLY do you know where each follower, engagement, content impression, etc. is coming from? this is a genuine question because from what I see, most of it is just a guestimation.

basically (and in my opinion, of course), brand awareness is a RESULT of effective keyed advertising/marketing. brand awareness for the sake of brand awareness doesn't work for 99% of the businesses out there (especially those with a limited marketing/advertising budget). all those brands that you see that are now well known are well known because they had a sound advertising strategy in place, knew how to cultivate customers and gained word of mouth / referrals through good business practices. there's also the ones who used effective advertising and coupled that with viral content (brands like dollar shave club, etc.).

but 'brand awareness' by itself does NOTHING (most of the time), especially in the context of social media marketing.

obviously, in the clothing industry, brand awareness is important. but supreme wasn't built around brand awareness. it was actually the opposite. they went for exclusivity and tried to keep their brand out of the mainstream (hence the whole underground skate / graffiti / street culture behind it). it was only when celebrities started rocking it everywhere that it really blew up to become one of the biggest brands.

i think you're just too caught up in the idea of influencer marketing to realize that it's not for everyone (especially this hotel in question because like I said, they'd rather go the publicity route -- which is completely free mind you -- instead of working together with influencers). and yes, i have used influencer marketing successfully for my businesses and my own clients in the past, so i'm not knocking it. i do agree most modern day businesses should incorporate some type of social media strategy into their overall marketing plan.

Did they respond publicly with that ******** post?

I don't see what the sloot did wrong or at least what she did, did not warrant that response.

one way is to use promo codes. if someone used that promo code, more likely than not, it was because of the person promoting it. i'm in marketing...an actual business, not home based. i get 1 or 2 of these requests every week. however, i have yet to see someone come out ask ask for free chit. i just brush them off...don't have the balls this hotel does. that's y i respect them for doing it.

I know someone who managed several hotels and he said this was a common thing. Either freebies or discounted rates.

and lol their website is down because of this story:https://charlevillelodge.ie/

She has a low sub count but you're kidding yourself if you think social media influencers dont matter
website is no longer down, and was probably down in the first place due to high traffic.... her posting this on social media was a win for the hotel.
