ALTERED CARBON hits Netflix Tomorrow (aww yeah bruh)

"Altered Carbon Is Solid Cyberpunk, But It's Not Netflix's Game of Thrones"

"Review: 'Altered Carbon' is a dark and dizzying cyberpunk thriller"

Unfortunately, it seems the Hindustan Times did not care for the show. Pretty brutal to get smack talked by a journalistic powerhouse like the Hindustan Times.

How friggin good was Blade Runner 2049 right? Saw it in IMAX at like an 11pm showing. Started feeling a little sleepy and it made the dreamy vibes of the film even stronger.

It should scratch the same itch, although it's going to be a lot more action than 2049. In the books the main character just kills the absolute chit out of a mini army of bad guys.

Was so good, literally one of 5 decent movies to come from last year.

Das it mane, loved the action in Blade Runner when he snapped that guys back ala Bane over his knee. Hoping for more of the same

In on this, seen minimal previews, know 0 about the story, but the visuals look like something I'd be into.

I liked the books and Netflix went big on the budget (rumored $6-7 mill an episode) so it has the potential to be choice.

The book was good I've been waiting on this show for a while now. One thing that stood out to me in the book that I hope they display well in the show is the torture aspect. It has that Black Mirror White Christmas vibe just more violent.

I read a thing with the Director/Showrunner who confirmed that the virtual reality torture scene from the book is in there, with an obvious modification for TV:

Spoiler!
In the book, they put Kovacs in VR into a body of a small girl, to make him feel more powerless during those scenes. On the show, they keep him in his own (virtual) body. They explained the decision since in the book you keep the same POV since you're in the main character's head, but on screen when they suddenly swap out the person you've been following for several hours and suddenly it's a different person on screen, the scene doesn't have the same impact since mentally you see it as a different character. Down to the difference between books and TV. There's evidently LOADS of violence toward women/men alike on the show, so it wasn't an SJW thing.

The trailer impressed me. I like the whole scifi noir feel and the premise is cool. Will watch.

I also love how they release all their shows on fridays so people can binge over the weekend lol.
I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

No better feeling than having a TON of something you like to watch.

Remember when they used to release original shows one ep at a time and everyone was like "lol".

you need an absolutely massive budget to make something like this work, especially if it's a TV show. just looks like this will come across as amateurish, and a lot closer to something you'd see on the syfy channel than a sci-fi movie. doesn't help that people are going to compare this to arguably the best looking movie of all time (blade runner 2049) based on the timing. 3x the length of that movie with who knows what the fraction of that ~$185 million budget they had to work with was.

Allegedly it has a bigger budget than the first season of GoT. I agree and hope they did a good job with it - shows like Battlestar Galactica were great but the budget showed at times.

Yeah, three novels with this character. Altered Carbon is the first and probably best, I liked them all. The author (Richard K. Morgan) did a fantasy series too, haven't read it.
