Who the hell wants a kid at 45? She'd be in her 60s when he/she graduated high school.

Nursing is an awful occupation. Awful hours/shifts, can't get holidays off without fights, dealing with unhappy people, being treated like a slave.

Pregnancy can be a really tough ride, or some can just breeze through it ..age and fitness has little to do with it

This is your average successful early 40 chick. Trust me i tried to date a few. Couple months in they are crying in their Mercedes telling you how they wish they hadn't been a whore party sloot and were a mother.

Nothing wrong with them having a career, but for ****s sake, waiting till you're 45 to start having kids?

Oh yeah, age has nothing to do with it. Science disagrees with you.

What are the risks to the baby for a mother over 40 years old?********PinterestTwitterText

Q: My wife and I are thinking of having another child. Our first child was born when my wife was 36 and she is now 41. I have read that the risk of Down syndrome increases with the age of the mother and I am wondering if there are any other similar risks that also increase with maternal age, for example autism or other health problems. Can these be tested for in the same way that Down can be tested for in the early stages of pregnancy?

A: Many women today choose to delay childbearing until later in life for a variety of reasons. Many of us are completing advanced degrees, building a career or choosing to marry later in life. In fact, compared to 1970 (when 1 out of 100 moms was over the age of 35), today's number is 1 in 7. So, although mom's today are older when they begin childbearing, you are correct that as a woman's age increases, the risk of having a baby with Down syndrome, as well as many other chromo****l abnormalities increases as well. In addition to chromo****l issues, there are more risks in general when having a baby over the age of 40. Before listing all of them, the important thing to remember is that most women having babies in their late 30's and early 40's, have perfectly normal pregnancies and babies! Here are a few of the risks that increase with increasing maternal age: 1. Gestational diabetes 2. Pre-eclampsia 3. Miscarriage 4. Preterm delivery 5. Problems with the placenta (placenta previa, placental insuffieciency) 6. Stillbirth (only slightly higher: 4/1000 vs 7/1000)

The overall risk of having a child with a birth defect is small. However, the risk of having a child with a birth defect caused by missing, damaged, or extra chromosomes is increased in older women. The risk of having a baby with a chromosome problem is 1 in 525 at age 20 years; 1 in 385 at age 30 years; 1 in 200 at age 35 years; and 1 in 65 at age 40 years.

Those risks are attributable, in large part, to aging eggs. If you freeze your eggs, the risks might not be the same (although freezing/unfreezing can also damage the eggs, so I'm not sure about that).

You should see the increased risk of ASD/ autism in increasing paternal age and behavioural disorders and reduced IQ (oh and achondroplasia, Marfan syndrome, schizophrenia, bipolar not to mention x-linked mutations resulting in the grandfather effect ...eg hits the grandchildren and not the kids), not to mention

I thought I said well off. Guess you didn't read that. Example, a 8 bedroom, 6 bathroom, 6000sq home. That's what my 2 brothers and sister lived in while living with our parents while going to college, we were both adults BTW, and it was awesome.

We all live separately now, but have talked about building a compound in order to live in close proximity again.

I've never been punched in the dik, but I can confirm that daycare is like phuking college tuition. I also have two, and in an ideal world, I'd love more, but two working parents can only handle so much (sounds like your's works too).
