Why is there a need for you to believe that atheist worship something?

I neither worship nor venerate anything.

Do you think the long-term solution (on Earth) for schizophrenia is salvation through Christ?

Then according to you, what criteria needs to be meet for something to become a god.

Also, did not answer;
Why do you feel the need to insist that we consider something god, when others are telling you that is not the case.

And honestly, even the Crusades weren't built on such one-dimensional direction, there's still monetary and territorial gain to be had, though religion was the primary rallying cry. Also using religion as a populist tool is not tantamount to a Jihad (see: Nazi Germany), which is a common conflation. If you mean pure zealotry vs atheist violence; you're probably right, I haven't checked data myself.

And that's the problem with that conversation, I've read many posts on secular and religious forums where they start splitting hairs about "Well those kills don't count..." and worse.

But it's not black/white. The action of debating whether atheism or theism has killed more people is naive IMO - there are far too many other factors that motivate genocide or conquest.
This is the mental gymnastics I find amusing. Agree to disagree bro.

Well, let's see...

Oprah said she auditioned for a movie role and went to a fat farm and thought about the Color Purple over and over and obsessed about that movie. Then one day Steven Spielberg called her for a role in the movie... zing!

Will Smith says 2+2=4 only if he believes it does and he controls his destiny with his thoughts. If he can think it, it will come true.

Scott Herman said he used to hit every red light when traveling to work. Once he had a positive thought process and imagined he wouldn't hit red lights, he hit all green lights.

Yeah, ok. But hey, the best are the guys who sell slot machine systems using the law of attraction, lmao. I guess that goes back to Will Smith can pretend 2+2= whatever number he wants it to and slot players can pretend a slot machine doesn't only payout 92%.

So I guess the law of attraction can be boiled down to "living life off of statistical variance."

Yes, positive thinking will make positive things happen, but it's not attracting positive things to your life; it is your positive mindset that is changing how you respond to things. That's a huge difference than some universal law bs about red lights or getting a movie role.

I always wondered about, say children born into an uncontacted tribe in the amazon. With not one chance of knowing the Bible, or Jesus. Doomed to everlasting punishment for something they have zero chance of even knowing? Seems like a fair and just God.

Brought this up in a different thread, but I guess there is no good answer to this problem from a Christian perspective

I bet you believe in Benny Hinn and his faith healing?

Remember back when Armstrong came back from brain and testicular cancer and won the Tour de France? Doctors said it was impossible without doping, and Bible thumpers said it was through God, prayer, the law of attraction. Nope - he cheated and used drugs and is such a sociopath didn't even consider any of it to be wrong in the slightest.

You are to believe that we are all immoral, and would have no qualms with murdering, stealing, etc. because there is no eternal consequence. The thing is, we have feeling like everyone else. Most humans prefer not to be azzholes to others just because they can. We have a society, we have law, and we have our culture. Our society (and all others) are fine with killing if it is an enemy that opposed us, but killing within our own society is looked down upon. That isn't based on religion, it's universal tribalism.

We aren't unknowable anomalies that refuse to see the truth right in front of us. We are as normal and well adjusted as you are, and you would understand us if you just take the time to get to know us as your fellow man, and not come to us with a preconceived opinion on who we are.
I don't think I've made absolute statements about all atheists being immoral. I've know a few in other sub forums who have an impressive worldview and sense of morality. However, I do believe if all religious people died out a nation of atheists would go south quickly. It doesn't take everyone going bad for a society to fall apart and I seriously doubt the ability of atheists to pass on their morality to their children which is another reason things would likely fall apart quickly. That and the fact I suspect most atheists care about their one life too much to put their life at risk for important principles when it becomes necessary.

This discussion isn't about labeling every atheists but about general beliefs and principles. There are many exceptions, of course. As there are with anything.

I know atheists, I've grown up with them. The ones I've known have a sense of morality. At least they don't go around purposefully hurting people. Obviously they are not wild animals but they certainly don't think about morality as much as the religious people in my life. I think they just go about living life only occasionally giving thought to morality and what is right or wrong. They have a basic sense of it and they live by that.

Honestly you atheist bros are just as harsh towards us as we are to you. We've been labeled as people who chose to follow some man made God as if anyone would purposefully do that. As if we need an emotional blanket to protect us from the scary world. We are portrayed as nearly all hypocrites, etc...

lol, clearly you have a much, much rosier view of human history than I do. Apparently you think humans figured out stealing, murdering, kidnapping, raping, etc were bad and they lived accordingly for the last 4000 years. That isn't what I got from my history and art history classes.

Same way most parents do. Expose them to life and circumstances, share the wisdom you've accumulated through out the years. Communicate and work together.

And Christians are good about passing on their beliefs? I'm sure that's children are leaving the Church in droves over the last 30 years because parents really instill within them the word of god.
This discussion isn't about labeling every atheists but about general beliefs and principles. There are many exceptions, of course. As there are with anything.
You state that a society of atheist would crumble without the principles of theists, and you don't that's making rather absolute statements or characterizing them a particular way?
I know atheists, I've grown up with them. The ones I've known have a sense of morality. At least they don't go around purposefully hurting people. Obviously they are not wild animals but they certainly don't think about morality as much as the religious people in my life. I think they just go about living life only occasionally giving thought to morality and what is right or wrong. They have a basic sense of it and they live by that.
You mean like most Christians I know? Like... most people I know?
Honestly you atheist bros are just as harsh towards us as we are to you. We've been labeled as people who chose to follow some man made God as if anyone would purposefully do that. As if we need an emotional blanket to protect us from the scary world. We are portrayed as nearly all hypocrites, etc...
So a victim? Please tell me about your plights. What did the atheist do to you? I have experiences with Christians that really make your claims ring hollow to me.

Of course... I'm sure those were just not "real Christians. No real Scotsman and all.

I'm sure we have been doing the whole society thing for more than 4000 years, and good job on Christians not murdering n stuff... because we know it's not them.... ever.

Haha, I went to a Christian university. There was this dude that was like, "That's right; I'm 21-years-old and a virgin, and I'm proud of it. I will not have sex until I'm married."

Then a year later he went on spring break, and told me tales of him banging this chick on the beach, in an elevator, in the bathroom. I was like, "What about all that sin stuff?" and he replied, "All sin is equal in the eyes of God, and all man are sinners." And he kept banging away, knowing he was forgiven by God. LMAO.
Deepfat: "I guarantee I beat you by at least 6 strokes. Afterwards, I'll slide my thick conservative cawk in your old lady just to finish the job."

z4: "So when are you available in September to play?"

Deep: "On second thought, I don't play golf with broads. You're such a scumbag that I'd be much more inclined to just slap the chit out of you."

z4: "MMA match works, too. So when are you available this month?

Deep: "I won't subject myself to being in the presence of a scumbag."
