Nothing is illegal about that. The typical libtard narrative is that someone can go to an more lax gun state and drive back to chicago w a gun. That is false
I thought he was just referring to people that can legally buy guns who can just go outside the city and get what they want. I always thought it was dumb how you can drive for 30 mins and go through 15 towns that have different gun laws around here. Why don't they just have a statewide law? Whats the point in saying AR15s are illegal in Chicago when you can just drive 30 mins and go buy one anyways?

Yes, our fundamental Rights and Liberties including the Right to keep and bear arms is so important that we will not reduce it to "hunting"

Everything else aside, what I still don't get is why do schools not have metal detectors and security at the door? How did this not become a normal thing after Columbine?

Sadly I think the problem is cost. Having armed security/metal detectors in every school in America would cost a ton of money....money school's don't have or don't want to invest. We know everything in this country boils down to money unfortunately.

just saw this on the news today....worse than columbine, fuking christ guys. I still remember when it happened in 8th grade, back in 99'. The shooter wont receive the punishment he deserves, that for sure. Life in prison or execution, both are far too simple.

Of course, times like this, the first discussion is gun control. Even before the bodies are taken out of the school we've got people complaining "you wont take my guns away" or "ban all auto/semi auto fire arms". Fukin' people have not no sympathy, they just jump on their personal agenda, immediately.

I can not believe they allowed this kid to go into that school. Fukn bs, had him going to school with a clear plastic bag because they already were suspicious about the **** he might bring in. I'm going to become one of those parents where I'm going to go around screaming "something must be done" kinda funny but i'm serious. They need people that can be armed and ready to pull the trigger when needed, guarding schools.

That's crazy...I'm sure people would be willing to pay slightly higher taxes for something like this vs the other 20 b.s. things that get tacked on property/personal taxes. (btw not disagreeing)

I went to a city highschool for 2 years, they had metal detectors and security on every entrance...couldn't even sneak in a Girls Gone Wild DVD

Every time a shooting and every time a gun debate...

Guns aren't going anywhere in our lifetime. There will be a civil war first. The most the liberals can hope for is to restrict future sales of "assault weapons" and tax the gun industry out of existence. There are enough guns already on the streets to last until the earth melts.

A gun confiscation program wont happen...There would be street to street fighting that would make Ramadi and Fallujah look like a walk in the park. Guns and ammo would FLOW into the country from external sources to create a proxy war (Americas Vietnam version 2.0)

When we elected our local Sheriff I emailed both candidates and asked them if they would support citizen rights in the event laws were written to restrict and or remove the right to bear arms. One candidate wrote back and let me know he was an Army Ranger and if laws like that were ever enacted he would be in a fox hole with the citizens and the other candidate wrote back and said he fully supported gun owners rights and there wasn't a Sherriff in our state that wouldn't resist. My entire state would be locked and loaded.

And that's where the federal government should allocate more funding for things like this, take a little bit of funding away from the military and put it aside for the kids, god knows we have a war within our country to wage out..

How about we try something that is input in our DNA and our minds.

Let be ****ing nice to eachother. keep teaching our kids to be nice to others. See someone struggling ? ask them if you can help in some way. Im not saying anyone should be a super hero but take a step back and just think about that. we wont change the world or stop every shooting but we can drastically change the amount of times this happens. for example. you have a 19 year old son who is showing a lot of strange behavior and psychotic issues. he's not happy. he's a little off kilt. DONT BUY HIM ****ING GUNS BECAUSE IT MAKES HIM HAPPY !!! THEN JUST SEND HIM ON HIS WAY !!! ****ing stupid. so stupid. not to mention the most dangerous tool in this whole act, which is by far not a gun. it's the internet. i blame the internet more and more. too much hate, illegal and illicit content, and it's so readily available to find this information, along with others who share the same views and create/mold these menacing people. if you dont believe me, just look at the misc. Been here long enough to see our fair share of psychos because of the way people treat eachother on here.

just my opinion though. agree or not. thats fine. end of the day just be nice to one another. maybe that random person you affect will change their mind from killing your family or friends.

What I'm saying is eliminating semi-auto rifles would in NO WAY limit mass shootings. Shooting up unarmed untrained kids is just as easy with a handgun as it is with a rifle. Or are you saying that semi-auto pistols, such as a Glock 19 or 43, should be kept out of the hands of law abiding, trained civilians with no mental health history? If pistols are given for self-defense inside or outside the home, even to highly vetted people, mass shootings will happen. I just want you to be honest and admit you want no woman or disabled person or anybody else to ever have effective means of protecting themselves with firearms. Just admit total disarmament is all you will be satisfied with.

Who would run the metal detectors?

Because people aren't willing to deal with metal detectors and the security screening required for thatbecause school shootings are so rareAND because you'd have to have armed guards there to enforce the screening. Simply having an armed guard or two, maybe a uniform SRO and then allow faculty/teachers/staff to legally carry, would be so much better than what we have now, without the expense and hassle and why-do-we-need-this feels of going through metal detectors like you're going into a courthouse

problem with federal funding is it passes through 20 different departments(of which all take a cut) before going to where it needs to be. At which point they put astro-turf on their football field.

Not sure what you mean who would run them?

And yes, obviously armed guards to enforce the screenings. I'm not against faculty carrying, but with how things are that's not going to happen.

For real. We hear about these tragedies on the news, but the one thing you don't hear of obviously is ones that were possibly prevented due to the kindness of fellow classmates to someone who was outcast/bullied/treat like chit. The profile for these shooters is almost always the same....... loner, bullied, isolated, high school aged. The crazy thing is that when it happens, people aren't surprised that person did it. People joke about outcasts at school calling them " the next shooter"...........instead of mocking him or bullying him, why not try to include him. High school is absolutely brutal for someone who has no friends and feels like chit everyday.

I have to say I am against faculty carrying weapons. During a situation like this, the only difference maker is going to be someone who has a lengthy history of firearm/stressful situation experience. Giving a 30 year old math teacher a 8 week firearm course and trusting them to defend during a violent situation isn't comforting. Situations like that rely on instincts and training. If someone is going to be armed in the school it needs to be someone who knows what they are doing.

It sounded like to me he was referring to people legally purchasing a gun that end up on the streets later on. Its not like its hard to buy a gun if you live in Chicago as long as you aren't a criminal. Everyone always says how strict the gun laws are in Chicago or even in IL including myself but mainly because I'm just salty my buddy in NC gets to own SBR's and Silencers. When you think about it though are they really that strict?

The best part of these threads is negging foreigners who love to give lectures.

What about volunteer vets to guard the schools?

I really hope its Option A, because ignorance can be forgiven if its not malicious.

Here is a properly referenced piece of statistic:

Ok, so the amount of guns has indeed gone up.

However, this does not mean more people have more guns:

In fact, less and less households and individuals own guns, whic his a better correlation to the decrease in the gun homicide rate:

So what did we learn?
1. There are more guns in America
2. Very few people hold a lot of those guns
3. Gun ownership (both per household and per individual) is decreasing
4. ... as you mentioned ... so is gun homicide. Oh, what a coincidence.Less gun owners, less gun homicides.Funny how that works, eh?
