Are you a special needs child? Can you read? How many times am I expected to legitimately spell it out for retards like you (and others)? Local law enforcement knew that this kid was problematic from reports provided to the sheriff's office by his teachers. He was being investigated, but too little too late given what is (now) known about him.

Retards like you can't see the forest for the trees. Local law enforcement should have handled this - it's not about his gun, or the type of gun, or whatever. It's about troubled people taking it out on other people, whether it's a van, a gun, a bomb in a subway station, etc. Where law enforcement is aware, they ought to do something about it. It's that fukking simple, you 'guns r bad k' plebe.

He's from the UK. He watches the BBC. That makes him an expert on U.S. gun laws and the U.S. Constitution.

Please try to keep up. I thought this was settled pages ago. Only Eurobrahs and ANZACbrahs can solve this problem for us.

Weird that when states started allowing it the ccw classes were full of teachers for months...

No one is forcing anything on them. You can be blissfully dumb to the evil this world is capable of and piss your pants when you encounter it in real life. I personally will respond quickly and deadly to nuetralize the threat

It really is not.

Guns have been around for hundred of years...
School shootings have been around since then...
Only since 2000 has this really become "a problem" in societies eyes...

What changed?
let me preface this by saying I AM NOT REILIGOUS nor do I align myself with any side. Although I'll be labeled a crazy right wing conservative for my views on guns

Since 2000 our society has CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. And I will not get into details about what, how why. But the outcome is clearly Children (mainly young males <25) who are LOST, WORTHLESS, and NOT CAPABLE of finding and carving out their own place in the world like the rest of us do.

Guns or not people like this WILL FIND WAYS TO HURT PEOPLE & THEMSELVES.Calling for MORE CHANGE, which is clearly what brought us to this point 2018.... the world we live in today... is clearly not the answer.

the data from other countries suggests this is false. other countries have lower murder and violence rates, and thats even accouting for the minority gang violence that the misc loves to blame.

Incorrect, the areas of US with concealed carry are among THE safest places on Earth to live. Some US counties have 0.03% murder rate, making them safer than any place on Earth.

I'm not sure what the solution is but we can't just blame law enforcement.

US isn't a homogenous whole. Every state has different laws, even every county does. It's unfair to judge US as a whole since many areas where guns are banned will have higher crime and murder and gun deaths, and so those liberal areas give the entire US a bad name.

I'm someone who was in Brussels when the terrorist attacks hit the airport. Much to my shock and dismay, newspapers in the Netherlands were saying that at least one of the persons who carried out the bombing attack had beenformally registered with Belgium's authorities.Perhaps monitoring was carried out, but nothing was actually done.

I'm notblaminglaw enforcement as such. I'm saying they need to be empowered and motivated in a way which makes them able to quickly assess someone's online presence in cases where school administration flag to law administration that a person has sadistic and violent tendencies, and a penchant for talking about how he wants to kill law enforcement officers. None of what I'm suggesting would ever violate freedom of speech - but couldn't the guy be brought in for a bit of a rough questioning? He had publicly expressed motive; he had tools to carry out what he said he wanted to do, and yet again he was being monitored.

Again, I'm notblaming. I'm saying I'm getting a bit sick of the (my) perceived lethargy in these services which are meant to serve and protect us. In particular when upstanding members of a community are reporting a potentially dangerous person to them.

NO ONE WANTS TO BE LIKE YOU. NO ONE. Literally everyone rather come here.

Back to the issue at hand. School shootings are Unique to America as far as how often they happen, not violence though.

But banning guns to turn us into all these other ****ty countries with other types of violence IS NOT the answer.

Too many being raised by single moms, in a culture that belittles masculinity, with a lack of real male role models (NBA and NFL players do not count), and public schools that put boys on ADHD drugs at young ages for being "hyper", with a lack of outlets for "boys to act like boys" because everything from from the boy scouts to little league football is being turned upside down in the name of societal change, with too much emphasis on the self-esteem of little girls and almost zero emphasis on the self-esteem of little boys... In short, this society has become very anti-male and these boys are growing up being told that somehow they are the cause of all of society's problems, especially if they're white and straight.

Considering there have been about 3 mass shootings in the UK in the past 20+ years, I think we're particularly well qualified to comment on these matters.

(1300 children get shot to death every year in the USA, put that into perspective)
