You see... your argument and every person that thinks like you stems from an incorrect belief that guns are inherently evil. Evil is a human term that requires action. Guns don't act upon themselves... they require a human to pull the trigger. Therefore, they can't be evil. This is why people like yourself will scream about guns when some psycho unloads on school children, but, you hang silent when a women blasts a couple thugs trying to rape her.

I totally see what you mean friend. Thank you for showing me the light and convincing me that fighting fire with fire is too fair and our kids dont deserve the best protection methods. I will rest easy knowing that after every school shooting, I can say "At least there arent more defensive firearms in schools for protection. Instead, I am glad that we handed every kid a pamphlet that said "guns are bad, only police and military should have them. We hope the bad guys will see the light and turn theirs in. You better learn how to serpentine."

This is not as complex as people are making it. School shootings will continue to happen. Tightening gun laws will probably help some, but like ive said a 1000 times, its just a half measure because a firearm WILL find its way into some crazy guys hands. In that case, would you want qualified teachers to be able to engage and return fire or just run, hide and hope the cops get there quickly?

Gun control laws will have some difference, but there are laws in place to curb DUI and how has that worked? I'm just gonna assume that your reason for opposition on this idea is "more guns = more violence." The most common point used by the left. I get that laws are the best method that doesnt involve more violence, but gun laws will not effect anyone besides law abiding citizens and will not effect someone who has already acquired their weapon s over time (Las Vegas shooter). I am still flabbergasted that people WANT educators to be useless in stopping school shootings. You are more than welcome to live under fake security with gun laws and gun free zones if you want. I'll continue to be able to protect myself AND try and end the threat in the meantime because I will handle my own security. Just make sure you carry around a "No weapons allowed" sign so when a mass shooter shows up, you can call him an idiot for breaking the law.

Yes i know. The states were originally meant to have more power than the federal government but statists have chipped away at that for decades

Everyone in here is bitching about grouping mass shootings with gang shootings and all I can see is the defensive use number of 221 and compare it to the 7,701 total number of incidents. Either gun owning, law abiding, citizens are making an effort to let potential threats know they are armed or personal security isn't as big of a problem as they make it out to be.

the left doesnt care about gang shootings or gun violence in Detroit, chicago, New Orleans etc. If they did, then they wouldnt exploit tragedies to push an agenda. its amazing how people now are so willing to disarm themselves and forfeit their best menas of self defense

You pass the psych evaluation and you get as many AR-15s as your heart desires.
I'm sure you know this, but what you're proposing is discriminatory and unconstitutional.

Hypothetical situation: Would you be able to stop me from gaining entry to your home and stealing your firearms (assuming im one of the "mentally ill" who shouldnt own a firearm and that you own a weapon to protect your home)? What is to stop someone from stopping their shrink appts and evals and saying that the breech on their weapon exploded and turned their AR15 into scrap metal?

Nothing, but if you’re caught in possession of a firearm and you aren’t up to date on your psych evaluation, you’re going to ****en prison, just like if you broke other laws? Gun nuts always say they follow the laws and aren’t criminals, this should be a non issue.
You don't get to make people pay arbitrary fees to exercise constitutional rights. Period. Are you American?

How about this, people who are known to drink, from the social drinker up to the daily drinker, are forced to go get psych evals in order to operate a motor vehicle. Anybody who got caught talking/texting while driving must have their phones checked periodically for messages that were sent while driving.
Why stop there... we should make any person who follows the religion of Islam also submit to a psych test too. Since there have been 30,000+ islamic inspired attacks worldwide since 9/11, we must make our islamic citizens submit to evals because of the extremists and their wrongdoing. And since we are on the subject of having to pay to exercise our rights, if the cops come to your home and want to search it, you can pay them and then your 4th amendment right will kick in.

I have to disagree. Arming teachers sounds like a good idea but the girls in my grade that became teachers, I don’t know any guys that became teachers, are the biggest bimbos and overall dumbest people I’ve ever met. They would be just as likely to accidentally shoot an innocent kid as a shooter would be to actually shooting someone.

Not to mention I’d bet that 80%, or something like that, of current teachers would be against having a gun in the classroom/using it.

Speaking on private grade/high schools, can’t say that anything I said applies to public.

I think a security guard is the best option.

Edit: didn’t see this thread was 4 pages long. I could have been proven wrong already.

Armed guards are great options, but there are no real regulations as to how much job training they get. Plus, that would be HELLA expensive to impliment. However, i am all for forking over the money if it is the best option and not a half measure.

I'm also not saying that all teachers are forced to carry. That would be absolutely ridiculous and we arent communist scum. I am simply suggestion, put together a well thought out plan to train and arm teachers, standardize a strict training protocol, and offer incentives for the ones who are willing to elevate their role in the protection of the kids. A few armed guards here and there will have an impact, but 25% of the staff who are trained, armed and ready to engage a threat will do much better. Obviously, there are numerous obstacles to work over, like funding, training, where the firearms will come from, insurance and so on, but in the end, what is m oney and effort used to protect the kids?
