Not smart to talk in absolutes, BUT you are right again in general.

Think of this topic as a chess game. IN GENERAL you don't give up material without compensation.

However, sometimes sacrificing increases your chance to win.

OUR REAL GOAL IS TO PRESERVE MAXIMUM GUN RIGHTS.

While I sure as hell don't trust Trump to play a tactical game. The NRA plays a very tactical game.

Trump is a populist and "Mental Health" and "Compromise" are very popular terms.

If you can control the "Mental Health" portion and restrict it to a process that requires trial by jury and burden of proof to be on the state... That is a HUGE WIN. Saying fuk you libs probably wont because the swayables will see that you "didn't try to prevent the mentally ill from having guns".

Going all in "No Compromise" can result in worse results. As a reminder our personal right to bare arms was upheld by a 5v4 vote... With the 4s promising to review it once they can. That is the liberals check mate. You CAN NOT give that up.

Farley for example telling OMNI to fuk off. Took a sway in our corner and put him out of our corner. Redirecting him to requiring "due process" was easy and filled his concerns.

Yeah because I talked about Trump's spearheading the age restriction potentially/likely influencing the FL age restriction, without the proper timeline having happened

Where is this bill that requires trial by jury before any firearms are taken? Oh right that's exactly the opposite of what MAGA TRUMP is pushing for.

What constitutes "incapable".

The reason gun owners can't give up the mental card is because liberals will use it to include various conditions that sound good in theory, but are really lies. (Depression, anti-social behaviors, any form of ptsd, ect)
Bingo, this is exactly what they'll do. They'll make owning an AR15 a "mental issue". Go see a doctor because you're having a rough patch in life? Guns taken.

I may have been a few mass shootings early, but I predicted all of this sh!t and spent the past three years stockpiling accordingly. Now's who's laughing. But the way things are going, grandfathering isn't even guaranteed now. Even though it would be a blatantly unconstitutional ex post facto law, all they have to do is say the government's interest in protecting public safety is greater than an individual's right to ______ and it will hold up. The riots and civil unrest that would create would probably make them grandfather most restrictions like with the first AWB.

Yep... So instead of waiting for Trump to push through something stupid.

Maybe the NRA should go in on mental health checks, BUT ensure the language requires trial by jury before firearms are taken.

Trump is a populist. The "Population" wants mental health checks. So instead of fighting it. GIVE IT TO THEM. OUR WAY.

Agreed. There needs to be actual conditions or limitations SPELLED OUT to claim somebody is not mentally competent to own guns. I've dealt with many patients who shouldn't own guns because of a psych history. That being said, dems will turn it in to "anybody who had a bad day" will be considered mentally incapacitated and not able to own guns. This will effectively neuter the 2A. There will be no due process.
Trump really did a complete 180 on this one.
What's next, electing Garland to the SC because he didn't get a "fair shake" last time? Support for full amnesty? Another AWB?

In light of recent events, we’ve taken an opportunity to review our policy on firearm sales. Going forward, we are raising the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age. We will update our processes as quickly as possible to implement this change.

No he didn't... During the campaign he supported those on the No Fly list being banned from owning guns. AKA ban with out due processes.

This is exactly what this is. Something that Trump thinks is a good compromise, but he can't see the next move libs will play. The NRA will talk to him behind closed doors explain it to him and he will lighten up, but he still wants the issue "resolved"

Best move IMO is to pass a mental health gun bill, but ensure it requires trial by jury to determine the person is a danger. Prevents the person that was depressed after his wife ran off with the milk man 5 years ago from getting banned due to depression. Preserves due process and "RESOLVES" the issue.

My worry is that the people like Farely wont see the play and will see it as the NRA supporting gun control. It is where the no compromises crew fails. Sometimes a "WIN" requires a pawn sacrifice.

It doesn't exist... Which is the point.

TRUMP WILL PASS SOMETHING ON MENTAL HEALTH.

If you just say "fuk off" you wont have any say on how it is written. You are playing the short game. Not sure how else to word it. If they did it your way it might be another 10-20 years, but once the libs are up in the SCOTUS we lose.

Congratulations the second amendment now only applies to the national guard. We need to play the game and toss in chit that shifts the argument our way.

I'm saying "**** Trump" because he is literally saying to do the opposite of what you keep talking about with regards to due process. Not sure how you can't read the quotes
