I feel the ceramicspeed pulleys are a total waste though and i wouldn't buy them myself. I'm wondering if I'm just better off spending around 2k to 3k on a di2 tri bike with just regular alloy wheels instead of carbon. I think price wise carbon wheels are the least cost effective.

your hand position is off probably stemming from not enough of your weight being placed on your butt and as a result your hands are having to bear more weight. I strongly suspect it is an overall fit issue. Overall very little weight should be on your hands especially when riding fast

x2 on this. Vary up hand position as well if you are on a road bike with drop bars. Lot's of hand positions to change up the points of contact. Gel padded gloves help as well. I get the numbmess in the taint and sometimes right foot when I'm going on a long ride over 40 miles. Usually I can stand up out of the saddle and shake things up to get the circulation going again. This is isn't usually a problem since every so often I'll have to stop a traffic lights or stop signs but if I stay in the saddle for over an hour and don't get up it can flare up.

I lost 45 pounds this off season and haven't ridden outside in a while but the trainer has been my friend/nemesis. Hoping the hills are a little easier than last season. Winter is trying to make it's last stand where I live. Bring o the heat of summer.

MTB or road bike?
If road, your fit isn't what you think it is. You might need a longer (or different angled) stem, seat adjustment, etc. Road bike shouldn't generate this problem as you should be constantly changing hand positions. Perhaps your handlebars are angled weird and you are leaning too much in a weird angle as a result?
If a MTB, you might simply be gripping too hard with your left hand. I get the same issue when I do 2-3 hour MTB rides. I have to remind myself not to squeeze so damn hard when I don't need to

i am a goober. When i read your reply i questioned my own claim and checked my power data because i felt i might be misremembering. And alas, I was misremembering. My normalized power was 226 (average power was 227) for 5 hours 52 minutes. That being said I'm almost 100% positive i could do 260watts for that period of time. I did do a 72km ride for 2 hours 41 minutes and my average power was 272 and my normalized was 267. anyways though, cliffs is im not aero and so i dont go fast

pullies, wheels and di2 are "cheap" if u shop around. I got my shiv for 2700 (new but a year old) di2 1k and wheels for 1k (ebay) so just be patient and a good deal with show up at some point or another.

Don't know what it is but Tri/TT bikes make me truly irritated when I look at them...They remind me of Ricers with big Spoilers.

The thing is, I want to start doing Tris....

Trek Domane SLR6 Disc (Ultegra Mech). I'd be interested to try the new Emonda Disc. Likely great for your rolling terrain.

Looking at giant defys on Craigslist, wtf is with these base models with triple front chainrings? Groce.

Any good aluminum Fuji's or other roadie bikes to consider used? My steel beast is getting old and I ride the fuk out of it. Want something stiffer, used, and half decent.

this is such an expensive hobby.

thinking my next upgrades gonna be saddle.

the giant escape stock saddle is too soft and pudgy...its called giant connect comfort i think..i guess they designed it for short distances with no padded shorts.

i am realizing its not gonna be ideal as i hit 25+ miles...any suggestions on what to look for when choosing saddle?

this giant contact looks suitable for longer distances:

Get a saddle fit aka saddle evaluation

Or measure your sit bones.

Anything with a big cut out works for me. I have a saris carbon saddle I bought from REI garage you can get them cheap right now

lots of people ride road bikes. also, if u want to get most of the benefits of a tri bike then just add some clip ons to your road bike and call it a day.

Yeah, I'd go for the propel, it's a bit too aggressive for me. But I'll have a look at Canyon and some other brands. Happy riding m8.

Learn how to work on your bike because stuff will inevitably break/become loose/need adjusting. YouTube is your friend. just search for whatever it is you need to fix and watch that video while you do it yourself. People ITT disagree with me on this subject; but I think one of the main points of cycling is the simplicity to the point of self maintenance.

Seems as though I've found a beautiful "like new" defy on craigslist. 105 group, original everything, even the original tires look new. dork disc still on there. Owner claims it was ridden only a few times and I believe it. Hoping to scoop it up for $800. We shall see tomorrow!

I deserve an updated roadie shredder lol. This 1991 dinosaur has treated me well the last 4 years, but I should move onward & upward.

Recommendations for a flat bar bike with at least 8 speeds, internal cable routing? Bike needs to be black, just a personal preference. I was looking at the Jamis Coda but doesn't have internal cables. Also I like the look of the surly crosscheck, but again same story with the cables. I feel like in 2018 this should be a standard feature.

ETA: This Trek Zektor 3 might fit the bill
