The closest they would get is passing it with say, a 3 month grace period to turn the weapons in. Even then i wouldnt be turning. When they came knocking on my door..."Well officer, i lost all my firearms in a boating accident in the gulf."i should have finished my thought lol - made it more clear. They seem to want a law that makes every gun owner an instant criminal who will face prison time.
However, Mass and California tried all out "assault weapons" bans before and it went TERRIBLY, so i highly doubt they will try that again. They KNOW that bans just take away law abiding citizens ability to defend themselves, so instead, they just restrict the ability to acquire the weapon (as if an ass hole crook follows the law)

Its a tough one. Guns are ingrained into American culture, but the idea that it is so easy for a psycho to get hold of a gun capable of killing classroom of children within a minute is a little disconcerting.
I live in the Uk and I am envious about a lot of things that America has, but the average Joe owning a gun isn't one of them.

The homicide rate in DC is higher than any state by double at 18.5/100k. DC also has the most restrictive gun control regime in the country.

I would imagine it would be more difficult to spend time pouring out petrol, barricading/locking all exits and then lighting it without anyone trying to stop you or run... as opposed to walking in and shooting.

The idea that your government's laws are what's keeping you safe is pretty silly.

One of the great things about the US is that we can actually take a look at our nation's laws and see them across a spectrum.
If anything, looking at a map like that tells you that gun laws are a poor indicator of homicide rate in the US.

Anyway I don't live in America it doesn't affect me, hopefully law abiding citizens can keep there guns and the mass shootings stop, it's a shame when a few ruin it for the many.
