Nah, most likely theres more competition, making and selling guitars for cheaper.

larger companies might have issues but learning insruments is FAR from going away. GFs been teaching orchestra for 7 years and played for the symphony in town for almost a decade. There are plenty of children learning instruments. EDM is a style of music, not a replacement for specific instruments.

Electronic music is harder for me to compose with, IMO.

All of these old timey hobby companies are in big trouble. Ski equipment, music, bowling, fishing, etc. No one is doing that chit anymore now that we have smartphones and internet pron.

GC actually can compete with online but they just are complete morons. They also need to not hire complete morons and it would help tremendously.

Instruments are one of the few things that it actually does make a difference buying from the store as opposed to online. Getting a guitar online without holding it, playing it, having it setup properly is a nightmare. GC should be hammering that in their marketing but never chooses to do so. I have only ordered a few online but only because they were dirt cheap and I can do most setup/mods myself. Every other instrument I've purchased I've bought in store and haven't had a problem.
For cheap/ midrange stuff sure but if I'm buying a better quality instrument or even just know exactly what I want, I'm getting new in box online over a model hanging in the store that's been raped by every dip**** rolling through the store trying to play their favorite metal riff.

jackson USA masterace ftw ! I mean esp are really nice too and schecters are nice for imports but gibsons quality has gone down since 2011 thanks to obamas regulations.


once you play a rr1 or king v you will never go back. the neck, feel and quality is just way too nice.

Fender are doing fine. Gibson had a terrible business model and an incompetent CEO. They also produce crap guitars.

I had a MiJ Jackson kelly from the early 90s that I sold recently, best neck I've played other than the suhr modern I currently own. Those 80s/90s MiJ guitars are like 80s Mercedes in terms of fit and finish.

I only casually noodle on bass, but from my observations from the last 15 or so years it seems either people are going with decent quality cheap gear or the full on custom gear these days. Why spend a couple grand on a factory made ax when for a few dollars more you can get a custom?

Live music is dead...I've been playing in bands for 25 years now and have played hundreds of gigs. In the 90s it was the golden age of music and you could basically walk into any bar, club or non-chain restaurant and get a gig. Today 90% of the places dont have live music and you have to constantly search for places to play. It doesnt matter how good the musicians are or how good the band is EVERYONE is staring at their phone.

...and the vast majority of musicians playing live are older guys (like me)....... In the 70,80, 90s you could walk into any neighborhood and hear a garage band practicing. I walk through my neighborhood which has over 3k homes and have never heard a garage band in over a decade of living here.

People just dont have the grit to play music anymore. They want to be "famous" but arent willing to spend the thousands of hours grinding it out to be good.

They make way too many different models. Plus they're chit tier now. I used to own several standards in the late 90's. They were a great guitar that was still relatively affordable. I recently went online recently to find a standard and I couldn't even find one. There's like 48 different models. Fuk Gibson.

my ibanez and prs get much more playtime than my les paul, even though it's a nice guitar (definitely overpriced, imo)


shame the company ran itself into trouble, but that's what you get when 70% of your offerings are over 4k

There is a time and place for everything. I am NOT a fan of having some emo playing guitar while Im eating and trying to have a conversation. At 10 or 11 pm when people stop coming in to eat and the bar crowd rolls in, a band is great addition(my opinion).

Actually is true.

Sadly, I even think I am one of those people.

I dont consider watching something on television like sports or going to the gym as a hobby.

I collect Sega Genesis games but that takes up like no free time



I honestly envy people that are passionate about a hobby. I am sure some people envy me going to the gym 6 days a week to but I dont enjoy it, it's just something I do.

Problem is that no one wants to hear a good rock cover band anymore at their local watering hole. DJs are cheaper, less equipment, and play what's hot on the radio. I've been in several bands and you just can't compete with DJs and "karaoke nights" anymore. Younger people don't listen to rock anymore.

Glad I still have an SG standard sitting around. Chit is gonna be worth bank oneday.

Also have a joocy HSS strat sitting around. If they go out of business too chit will also be worth fukin bank since the HSS existed for such little time.
