That wasn't a conclusive list, I figured if Cap #1 hooked him he'd continue and see Winter Soldier.

Iron Man 2-3 and Thor 1-2 are so-so, and I'd only recommend to someone already invested in MCU movies.

Yeah The Punisher is badass. I haven't seen any of the show yet but I loved the Thomas Jane movie. I think it's better than all the recent Marvel movies, it's got that feeling of being so badass that it gets a little corny, but still so awesome.

I'm sorry comic book fans, but this is why people struggle to respect the movies, because you guys act like they are the most amazing films ever. Comparing them to Star Wars? What? These movies don't even have half the cinematography OG Star Wars had. These movies are more like good Transformer movies, just formulaic big action blockbuster films, that have some cool things about them, but also have a lot of flaws and are not mindblowing in the slightest. They're just films that are easy to watch and are full of mindless entertainment, and they have no competition, because Hollywood ran out of ideas, there's nothing truly artistic anymore. The fact that "Shape of Water" won at the Oscars and how The Last Jedi was a disaster, says it all, that Hollywood sucks now. There's nothing to compete with so it's easy for these Michael Bay style films to take over cinema.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the MCU films have you watched, and which ones? Because I made the same "big action" comments before I started watching them. There's more to em. It's not the Godfather but it's not Transformers either

If you're adverse to fantasy-type movies then you'll probably never like them. But the majority of people who aggressively hate on em are too quick to dismiss or haven't even watched any. And I used to be exactly that guy, lol.

It's definitely NOT like Transformers or mindless action movies. Such movies don't span 10 years and have multiple plotlines running through all of them.

I've actually watched most of them beginning from the 2000s, and I seen some of the older ones from 90s and down. Haven't seen them all though. Some of them I did like, and some of them I don't. And this is an example of why it's hard for me to actually take these movies seriously, because I thought The Punisher (2004) was actually a pretty decent movie, and marvel fans swear that's one of the worst ones ever made. The movie didn't have any break-out performances or anything, or cool special effects, but it had solid cinematography for what it was. Right at the beginning, Frank Castle's family gets waxed, and it was possibly the most raw scene I ever seen in a superhero movie. He then goes on to have three strong boss fights that he barely wins, and had a strategic finish in how he beats the main boss, and all bosses were drastically different from each other and powerful in their own way. It was an interesting revenge plot, where the protagonist and antagonist are fighting to the death. While then you got movies like Doctor Strange, which is highly rated across the board, but that was one of the most boring superhero movies I ever seen. The dude loses his hands, learns magic, and then has one of the most generic boss fights I've ever seen. BRB let me just find the right power to beat him to save humanity even though it didn't look like humanity even cared or was in much danger in the first place. The movie felt so lifeless, that I didn't even care. They are all just hit or miss for me, and the one that were good, aren't even THAT good. The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2, which IMO were the very best superhero movies ever made so far, still don't even compare to a movie like The Matrix and other movies up there like it.

They were cool at first but hollywood doesn't understand when something is too much, they will milk it for all it's worth and suck as much money as they can out of something. I even read comics as a kid and I'm mostly tired of them. Logan was the only good one in years. It felt like a movie that happened to have some superheroes in it rather than a superhero movie.

I didn't know Punisher 2004 was rated so low by comic fans. But it's reviews online are basically "not bad". I loved that movie too but while it was emotionally powerful, it wasn't that deep. Winter Soldier has far more depth than that film, for instance.

Film is subjective and certain things just tick off people like Marvel's constant tension-undercutting humor. But if you just tune out the reviews (good and bad) and just focus on the movie, I think you'll find most them are very good quality. You said early 2000s so did you watch Capt. America 1-3? Those all came 2011 and later.

The weakest MCU films are Thor 1-2, Iron Man 2, and the Incredible Hulk. TDK was tied my #1 until Infinity War

That's the thing, comic book fans are ONLY comparing the movies to each other. I'm comparing the movies to cinema as a whole. They are not THAT good of movies, and it's quite obvious to anyone who isn't a cult fan and knows anything about films. And that's what I'm talking about, 2004's The Punisher was a solid film for cinema standards, it wasn't groundbreaking or anything, but it was a decent film. But most comic book fans act like that was a C level superhero movie, that was cool for some, but most don't care for it at all, and that's why you never see it get brought up. I don't care what people personally like, you like what you like, but when you think like a movie critic, you start to see films more for what they are, even if they are your favorites. I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan, but I do appreciate the Star Wars universe, because the OG films were really that good of movies, and when fans start acting like these comic book movies have now reached the level of Star Wars, and that's when I'm like, y'all are trippin'. They are not there...yet.

And yes I've seen the Captain American films. I didn't like the first one, and I thought the second and third one were okay. Okay as in like, they were watchable and had some cool things about them, but they're movies I'll never watch again, because they weren't cinematically impressive. None of these films have famous movie lines (besides maybe like TDK and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, which had like one or two), or scenes that you just want to rewatch over and over again, because of how brilliantly philosophical they were, or how epicly revealing they were in presentation or dialogue. Most of these movies don't have impressive soundtracks either. You know, soundtracks that are ageless (Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, etc). No amazing sound effects (lightsabres, T-Rex roar, etc) or nothing. All they have is some cool already established characters, and some good action scenes, and that's it. No amazing storytelling or nothing. And that's why I just can't respect these movies in the type of manner fans do.

This... why would you watch that ****ty CA movie over IM1 (probably one of the top 5 Marvel movies, might have got shifted out with the new Avengers but would have to think about it).

And no, 90% of these movies don't move beyond the "entertaining" category. But it's pretty obvious lately that Hollywood has officially run out of ideas, so anything that isn't a remake or complete **** is going to dominate the scene - and can do that with comic book movies.
