People love Star Wars for nostalgic reasons, other than that, even the absolute best film in the franchise is just good, nothing more. Having said that, I prefer the weakest Marvel movies such as The Incredible Hulk to the best of Star Wars.

Thanos vs Johnny from Karate Kid?

I think Johnny edges it out. Would be a good one. Hopefully they make it happen

47 page thread so I already know it’s overhyped. I’m not tempted enough by the reviews and whatnot to take 3-4 hours out of my weekend to go see it lol. Just sounds like another superhero movie using the gimmick of a justice league type angle to break box office records. I’ll wait for redbox

Couple questions though.

How is scarlet witch powerful enough to destroy an infinity stone? And if she's that powerful why did she get beat like a chump by a couple homeless looking space weirdos?

How did Vision get so weak? He seemed as powerful as Superman in previous movies, now he's a pathetic doormat in every fight scene.

I was shocked as hell Stark lived, he was like the #1 expected death. But probably in the sequel once they bring everyone else back to life. I'm sure he'll go out like Bruce Willis in Armageddon with a Yippy kai-ye motherfuker.
Well Stark is ALONE on Titan it will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Wouldn't say overhyped.

Great acting, except for Mark Ruffalo, great jokes, and a good enough overarching story to keep you entertained. Pretty cool to see if you're entertained by the movies because everyone comes together.

Well, Thanos is just Thanos until he uses a stone to do something. That's why they were trying to keep him from being able to use the gauntlet, and we know Mantis is extremely powerful as she was able to affect Ego who is a celestial (stronger than Thanos IIRC).

Justice League was garbage. And if anything, Justice League was an Avengers gimmick.

Infinity War is the culmination of a decade's worth of movies all working together to advance the plot to this point. And it's done really, really well.

Also, as far as smashing records goes: over opening weekend alone, Infinity War earned as much as Justice League did in total. It also earned $1 billion in 11 days - the fastest movie to do so.

Ego is (was) a celestial in the sense that he was a cosmic being, but he's not one of the Celestials that people commonly know from Marvel comics.

If it will be like the comics, Nebula will play a key role in defeating Thanos.

Scarlet Witch is very powerful, but it's not the brute force that was just able to destroy the infinity stone, it's the fact that her powers are based on that stone so using same power on it destabilizes the atoms and lose its integrity - or something along the lines.

Vision got jumped early on in the movie and was damaged quite badly when he got stabbed.. The plan was to have him repaired (and reprogrammed so he's not dependent on the Stone) in Wakanda, but then he gets attacked again while being worked on.

That can be suspicious.
Interdasting. Not sure how closely they will follow the comics, but Thanos defeating the Grandmaster was a solid plot point on his quest to acquire the gems.

It's worth seeing on the big screen IMHO. Larger screen, better sound. Take the plunge and see it. It's hardly overhyped and is a solid and enjoyable ride.

No doubt the reason Vision is so weak throughout the film as well is because of said wound.

Saw Infinity War over the weekend. Loved it. I thought Thanos was supposed to be really evil but they made his character a little soft and emotional. I did not read all 47 pages of this thread but where was Thanos at the end when he was smiling?

Also went to a comic book store over the weekend and the owner was telling me about Thanos evil past based on the books. Waiting for my vol 1 Infinity Gauntlet order to arrive.

Lolz that’s what I was thinking. Superhuman senses, stamina, reflexes, speed, agility & strength. Gets snuck up by a guy with a staff.

The directors even admitted it, they wanted a way to impede him because he was to powerful.

Its implied through the color pallet that he went inside the soul gem to spend time with Gamora.

So glad they didn't go with comic book version of Thanos and some stupid obsession with impressing Death.

I think he means the very last shot where he looks at the sunset. That's not the soul stone but some random planet he goes to, presumably Gamora's home world.

Some people have said it's inspired by "Farmer Thanos" in the comics, even though that particular plot-point relies on Adam Warlock.
