10 years down the line - split monthly payments and add principal payments, this loan is almost gone, degree remains for the lifetime allowing equal partner to help earn/pay down. unless degree is in gender studies and no reasonable employment opportunity awaits. but you should have vetted that before getting married in the first place? sounds like they both played a part in this fiasco.

Saying she's taking the house and his retirement savings sounds vindictive, like a threat after busting him with the Stacey next door

If you're banging or are considering banging the Stacey next door, please ensure you have assessed all of your risks and have developed an appropriate mitigation plan

It's easy to say that on your end. I'm no MGTOW by all means I'm not opposed to getting married, family, white picket fence, etc... But I also live in a state that sides with the females 100% of the time, no question. Her degree was in a field with average earning potential, meaning unless the loan forgiveness program actually pulls through (so far it hasn't for anyone in her field) she won't have it paid off till she is close to retirement.

Is it self defeating to risk the financial stability you've worked hard for and overall happiness on a person? I guess that depends on your life goals but it definitely was too big a risk for me.
hard to hate on a fellow wings fan but....

i need to cut... badly.

They evolved to have patience and cunning as a survival mechanism to balance the lack of physical strength possessed by males.

Do you think the men would have readily shared the meat from the animals that they literally risked their lives to kill with sticks had they not been baited with the prospect of pussy on demand?

Start looking at Marriage as a business partnership. You better choose a good business partner.

This one girl I might end up married to. I don't have that warm fuzzy feeling with her, I'm not all that attracted to her, even though she is a decent looking girl. However she's got a good head on her shoulders, good with money, has a strong family backing with strong financial help, and we work well together. When her and I set out to do something, a lot is accomplished. We really prosper together.

My ex, I loved her to death. Warm and fuzzy feelings all over, lots of passion. Wouldn't marry her because she is terrible with money, massive student loan debt, bad credit, can't hold a decent job, spends money like a lottery winner. When we work on something together, it's her stuff and it's me doing it for her. She just got in my way if it was anything else.

Repped.

This is what all mariage should be about : Forming the best team to advance in life, "love" gets boring and fades away very and once her bad traits begin to rear their ugly head you're in for a life of misery.

I enjoy your vision. I will probably end up marrying a conservative woman with strong values, head on her shoulders and know hot to keep things in check, be it a home, her money or relationships, feelings come second.

unfortunately the way the laws currently work it doesnt matter. that good business partner can just as easily cheat on you and divorce you and take s*it that doesnt belong to her the minute she feels like it.

MArriage itself is a bad business bet, regardless of the woman(unless shes much richer than you)

Honestly in this day and age if you marry and don't get a prenup it's your own fault. I don't have one but in my cultural background we have dowry payments instead. If she divorces me I get a lot of $, she gets nothing. The more I think about it the more I think, if the western world had dowry there probably wouldn't be so much cheating or divorces. You shouldn't think about the negative before getting into it but if they love you they'd agree to it unless they saw it not working out. Does suck about the salary thing, who rushes to pay off debt anyway? Pay that chit off slowly, enjoy life.

Interestingly this article popped up when I googled Warren Buffet to get some perspective on marriage + business

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/14/warr...you-marry.html

Anyone can cheat whenever. If you approach marriage the way Jasonw1178 suggested, you're going to increase your chances of being in a good position when you reach the other end. You probably wouldn't take on a business partner that possesses an array of risk indicators (high debt load, poor spending habits, low income/assets relative to yours, etc). Or maybe you'd take a chance on them, but you'll know what you're getting into. Either way you're better off.

prenups dont mean s*it. Courts through it out all the time, the same way a woman can consent to sex and then 5 days later claim rape regret. This stuff happens all the time. stay woke

the smart thing to do is not marry.

yes, if you are going to do it best to really be careful, but the smart common sense thing is to not do it. Just compare benefits and risks and the choice is obvious. what the hell do you tangibly gain from marriage? Nothing

Not married but been with my woman a long ass time. She tempers my testosterone-driven, self-destructive side srs. She challenges me and is a big part of the reason I went back to school, tripled my income, and massively increased my career potential. This is the type of stuff you'd expect from a good business partnership with someone who complements you and works towards the same goals.

Not to mention dual income, companionship, etc etc

Only way I'm getting married is if the girl is absolutely crazy about me and I her. Like I own that pussy and her entire life. People who've dated enough can separate the majority of girls who are tryna cuck you vs that one broad that is just nuts over you.

We're common law, which has the same financial/property/etc implications as marriage here

Good example of a poor plan, this isn't what should drive your decision-making. Infatuation isalwaystemporary

^^^^^^

The more I listen to Dan Carlin's hardcore history, the more I understand how true this is.

All through history, these dudes in charge of nations getting assassinated, going to war with different people, rebellions, etc and the woman ends up marrying the guy who kills the king, the guy who kills the guy who kills the king, etc. Cunning in their own way the females are.

I can't even kiss someone I don't feel attracted to. I don't know how people fake it for months or years.

You're talking like one parent staying home to raise the kids is something only one person decided on. When there is a stay at home parent, it's a decision by both people in the relationship.

because women and men are different. for women, sex is about attraction, marriage is not. Its about resources and status.

The sexless marriage is a real thing. because the woman didnt necessarily marry a guy shes attracted to. thats reality. and once you're married, there's nothing you can do if she stops fuking you. You're trapped

I'm saying I wouldn't even be able to fake it to the relationship/marriage part. If I can't even kiss someone I'm not attracted to then I'm certainly not going to be able to have sex with him! lol
