Also you're probably going to need like 15k a year for service and maintenance. Heard the clutch only lasts maybe a 1500 miles max and it's like 5k to have it replaced.

Clutches can last 30k
$3k per year for routine maintenance at most. A lot less if you can diy
A new clutch is about $6k

My logic is, what's a weekend car worth to me, per week. I'm throwing out a number, about 300$? If that works for a gallardo, that's what I'd have, it's really the only car at that price that has presence while still being somewhat useable.
I'm aware that would cover a lot of Porsches as well, but apart from the GT4 they don't do it for me. Just not head turning cars, far too common.

also, OP, if you're trying your hardest to get this gallardo at a low price you can't afford maintenance on it, something goes wrong and you're going to resent the car, I don't care how old it is, it's still a rich man's car, end of story.

At a minimum (if the car is clean) a dealer will pick it up for about $70-75k

My starting point is a simple question. What is a weekend car worth to me. There's only a handful of people on the planet that have so much money that a monetary value isn't really relevant.
So it might be 100$, it might be 1500$ a week. At my price point, I've got this car in my sights. It's just intellectually lazy to say no one can afford a second hand supercar (as you are implying) because, logically, there MUST be a price at which it makes sense.

Really though, I'm suspicious. Why would you auction this car? Anyone bidding would assume the same as me, there is something fundamentally, expensively wrong with it, and that the owner doesn't want the buyer doing a full inspection first and finding out.

Just going off the description, I don't think there's anything major wrong with it. Receipts and accompanying paperwork looks like it'll be provided with the sale.
I think the seller made the starting price 48k to get attention, which looks like it worked. Final bid will be at least 70-80k like others have mentioned. Forget maintenance, are you the type of person who can afford an 80k "Sunday driver"? If so, bid on it. If not, forget you ever saw the click bait in the first place.

It's left hand drive so......
No overtaking unless on a dual carriageway
You're gonna have to get out to get a ticket for the multistory
You'll have to throw your debit card at the KFC drive through monkey, and in return hes gonna try and chuck your bargain bucket and pepsi back through the window
Everyone is going to think you're a try-hard peasant because you've bought a 12 year old, LHD, imported, supercar.
What's the retail on that?
More than you can afford pal

if youre the type of person who can throw away $50k for a weekend toy and your deciding to use it on an old high maintenence lambo than you either are retarded and inherited some cash, or, you are just trolling.

The lower cash price reflects the likely increased maintenance cost. You would have to agree, at some price point you are getting a bargain. I.e. The depreciation on a new one is greater than the out of warranty running costs of the old one. Even if that price is 10k.

You're better off getting an E60 M5 or an E63 M6 if you're going for a pre LP560 era Gallardo. Both have V10s like the Gallardo, both turn heads in terms of engine noise, both will make your girl drop her panties when you floor it, except you can get the V10 Bimmers for less than $30k in the states at a dealership.
Maintenance wise I hear it's a hit or miss like the Gallardo for those two, but you're not shelling out 75-80k just to get the car itself.
