I actually found him kind of funny, but I was baked whenever I watched. Honestly, if it wasn't for the humor I would have rated this show much lower. The random humor made me forgot about some of the cheesy scenes.

I saw the original Karate Kid in the theaters when I was a kid.

Feedback on Cobra Kai:
Good story
Marginal acting
Loved the anti-SJW message

This is a good show, but nowhere in the league of The Sopranos or Mad Men which are my top 2.

Yeah exactly. He's an example of what happens when people have no discipline in their lives. None of the karate dads or karate kids can be that example because they all have some sort of discipline.

Finished the whole season. Thought it was really good. LOL that Johnny is almost literally stuck in the 80s. Like almost no awareness whatsoever of modern times.

Watched all the episodes. I give it a solid 6.5/10

I enjoy the show and I'll watch the 2nd season for sure, but I feel the development and training of the students by Johnny is lacking hugely. It was like I didn't see them get any better and all the sudden, they're these great karate fighters. I feel that was the strong point of the original Karate Kid was seeing the development in the skill set he was learning from Mr Miyagi.

He's more of a comic relief character and a device to show Daniel's current lifestyle of wealth and a spoiled family

10/10 watched it several times so far, I'm a huuuuge Karate Kid fan and watched the movie soooo many times.

I love it that there are several of the actual people from the movie in it and all of the flashbacks. I couldn't be happier with it and I'm so pumped for season 2 which will have even more of the originals in it.

The latino kid got better at karate but then went off on a completely downward spiral almost as a foil for Johnny's kid to be redeemed, and that's the chitty part about it.

Given the ending of the season (damn...) I think it'll just get worse for the latino kid, and for Johnny too. I liked the idea of Cobra Kai being a badass yet not completely irrational chitheel dojo.

Will of course watch season 2.

Binged it all in one day and it didn't dip in quality even once across the whole season, it was honestly god tier.
This. Admittedly I'm a huge fan of the Karate Kid franchise but this was a 10/10 for me. From the overall vibe, to the returning musical scores, to the scarily familiar parallels, homages ane recreations of VERY minute things from the original trilogy you can tell the guys that made this are actual fans that care about the integrity of TKK and like know the story and characters well.
