Thing is, that for example in Spartacus - best show ever -,being gay wasn't treated as a trait that defines a character. For example, Barca and Pietros - and then Gnaeus - actually had personalities, amazing character arcs (Barca tasked with killing the kid, lying to Pietros, then later getting killed, Pietros got lied to, got raped by Gnaeus who then got killed by Spartacus) played major parts in the story and actually "served" one of the crucial events leading up to the rebellion led by Spartacus. And they happened to be gay lovers. By the way.

Look brahs. I understand where you’re coming from. It can be an inconvenience when something different comes along and threatens your programmed comfort zones. We’re all used to things and don’t like it when something comes along to change that. It’s basic human nature. I also realise that you all, including me are just bored as fuk right now and looking for something to moan about.

I understand how it appears somewhat forced and just “adding a token gay”, society has always changed at a fast rate and entertainment reflects that. People are more tolerating of different sexual orientations now and yes it is going to be reflected in society and pop culture. It has always, and always will happen. Look at how exponentially different the world was 100 years ago and imagine how different it is going to be 100 years from now. Your perceived “truths” are nothing but programmed safe spaces and it’s in our nature to feel fear when those safe spaces are threatened. But we’re incredibly resilient and intelligent and will overcome it in time, just like we did with religion, monarchy, social class, race and now sexuality. (I realise we still have problems with these but we’re un-doing a lot of the brainwashing compared to how it used to be)

I don’t mean to offend any of you. I understand where you’re coming from but at the end of the day it is redundant and pointless to keep debating it, when change is inevitable and there’s little we can do to stop it. It’s better on our mental health and stress levels if we stop trying to fight for “the right way” (aka a belief system we’ve been programmed into believing)

It leads on to the whole living in a simulation thing. Our whole societies are programmed, from country borders, to monetary systems, taxes etc. We’ve been told how to live and think for millennia. The changes we’re discussing in this thread is just another component of the programming and you can choose to be stressed out about it and keep fighting, or just try get on with your life in peace for the short time we're here. (I try to do this as much as possible, but clearly straying from this path by even contributing to this thread)
