There is this roundabout that I travel through almost everyday. The speed limit on it is 25 but everyone goes about 30-35. What this does is it makes it a lot harder for the cars on the sides to get into the roundabout safely. Because they cant get into the roundabout, traffic builds up and a long line forms, all because people are 5-10 over. The funny thing is this: 99% of people will think that going 25mph is way too fkn slow. So everyday you have congestion in this area.
Who determines the speed limit has nothing to do with what I said.

But it isn't. There is absolutely no reason why being silent is anything extreme. Here's my ID, my insurance, write me a ticket or don't. If this was a small town where everyone knew each other including the lone sheriff and deputy ... different story.

You have little to gain by saying something and possibly a lot to lose for a million different reasons.

Actually we can.

Doing 55 in a snow storm when everyone else is doing 30 isn't safe. Doing 55 when everyone else is doing 75 also isn't safe. I've seen people pulled over for both.

You will be pulled over for going slower if the cop is following in traffic. If hes shooting radar he wont pull you over. If he pulls you over for going slower, hes just checking to see if you are tired. If nothing out of the ordinary, he will let you go no questions asked because theres no basis for his pulling you over.

Also doing the posted minumum is fine, just as long as you don't go over/under the posted limits.

You know, I tried to give that guy the benefit of the doubt, when he said he was confused about where to turn off I said, okay, that's "possible". Then I moved on to evaluate the rest of this. And then he started treating the officers very poorly for doing their job and he lost all credibility to me.

End of the day, he became very defensive about speeding - and consistently says that he wasn't speeding. Which isn't cutting it for me. I think he is in the wrong for his language to those officers and he got what he deserved. Angry guy needs help.

Do you have autism or something? Seriously wtf lmao are you some sort of robot: I MUST OBEY. FOLLOW LAW. You realize that adhering to the speed limit can be irrational right? If everyone else is speeding and you're disrupting traffic flow by going significantly slower you're being dumb af. Yes you're following the law but you're acting irrationally because you're increasing the chances of an accident occurring. BUT BUT BUT I'm following the law! Yes well the world isn't black and white. Let me guess do you throw hissy fits when you color outside the lines during play time?

Okay, ill bite. Statistically speaking my age group is more likely to get into accidents. That has no bearing on whether what I said is valid or not. But I can already tell your simple mind won't comprehend that. I'm honestly surprised you managed to turn on your computer today. Or did mommy help you press the buttons?

Nobody would reasonably believe that "make a right at the next intersection" means pull into someones fuking driveway and park at their house for a traffic stop...
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesnโ€™t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesnโ€™t mean anything either.

Ok ill bite too. So your argument is this: my driving the speed limit is causing you to change lanes and overtake, potentially causing an accident, right?

First, if everyone is going faster and one person crashes, they are crashing with a much HIGHER force than the one set out by the speed limit. That in itself is already unsafe.

Second, by going faster, you shave a couple of minutes off of your arrival time in exchange for your safety and the safety of others, not to mention more wear and tear on your car and roads. All of that so that you can arrive at McDonalds 5 minutes sooner.

So driving faster is already dangerous. Your overtaking and potential crashing is not my fault. Lol, yall dont know jack chit about driving, particularly you. But understandable for your age, which is why I mentioned it. But it doesnt have to be that way if you just listen.

You didn't tackle the issue whatsoever you just listed reasons why driving fast is bad. My argument is that its irrational and dangerous to be the only one who is going slowly while while everyone else is going fast. Obviously in fairy tale world everyone would drive the speed limit and never get into accidents, but theres something called reality. By "hurr durr drive speed limit" you're actually increasing the risk of an accident much more than the people who are already speeding. You're essentially saying everyone should conform to the way you drive because its correct when in reality a good driver needs to understand the situation he's in and whether or not it is appropriate to speed in order to reduce the likelihood of an accident. Its called adapting to your enviroment/situation.

Cop went full tard there. An intersection is where two things meet and cross one another. A side street or driveway off of one side of the road isn't an intersection. If you're gonna be a dik, at least be correct.

Your arguments are terrible. Speed and safety are not linear and also doesn't correlate to driving fatalities well (do yourself a favor and research data regarding the USA and Germany when it comes to driving fatalities) vs many other factors. If you merge onto a highway full of 18-wheelers and you're doing the exact speed limit while they're doing 5-10 over ... then you (not them) have now put yourself in much dangerous position. You can even argue this in court and win since general safety usually trumps speed limit.

BRB... California wildfire blowing across the freeway. Everyone is doing 85 and your dumbass is poking along at 55 putting everyone else at considerable risk trying to avoid your dumbass and the fire. BRB... "I'm doing the speed limit... being safe... not breaking the law!"

Witnessing a crime is not the same as being accused of a crime.

you think the road will wear down faster when someone drives faster? pretty sure there is less friction the faster you goo man, and even if so the effect on the road is neglible. Stupid point

Shaving off a couple minutes....if you driving faster causes you to miss red lights that you may not have hit while driving slower that time can add up significantly.

The less time you are on the road, the lesser chance you have of being involved in an accident. period

Yes, driving faster does cause more wear on the road. Thats a fact. I found that out when i was trying to get into the asphalt business.

Most light are in sync with each other. Meaning if you travel at 35 mph, the next light will be greeb by the time youve arrived. Not all are sync like that because of many different intersections. Dont take my word for it, you can test this out urself the next time ur on the road. Armed with that info, my ride is usually pretty smooth.
