I agree. Unilateral movements are almost always superior.

Some points to make for the dumbbell press:

- if **** hits the fan you can just drop them
- increased rom
- uses stabilizing muscles more
- same load for both sides, no imbalances
- healthier for your shoulder

Bench press:

- moar weys on the baahbell

Why not both?

I feel dumbbells a lot better but barbell benching is more fun with my poverty bench skills.

Dumbbell presses are a great excersise for sure, but theres no replacement for the weight you can get under with a barbell

I see dumbbell press as a great second tier excersie to do after heavy bench, but in that role i favour machine hammer press as well as smith machine press

Calorie deficit of peace 2,400~ cutting ATM, have only been lifting for 2 months with most of it being the "getting back into lifting" phase of mobility and going through the motions of compound movements to stimulate old neuro pathways.

5".95" 175lbs @ 10% currently pressing 110's for a slow controlled clean 5 reps.

I hadn't lifted with fitness equipment for a solid 2 years prior to this picture being taken. I was almost finished roofing my house this is after work.

What you see here is what I retained from staying active/labour work and eyeballing macros namely always trying to consume 100-140g protein daily.
Spoiler!

All those being true, this is the most important of them all. You have nothing to lose, only gain from using DB's vs BB.

- do I look like I have friends at the gym? lol jk. I wouldn't like annoying people for a spot all the time. Sadly we don't have a rack for benching.
- good
- more functionality and carryover to other pressing movements?
- no way you can distribute the weight as perfectly as with dumbbells.
- dumbbell pressing allows you to burn out your chest to the same extent with less weight thanks to a bigger ROM. Your shoulder joints have to bare a bigger load, no matter your form. If you're in for bodybuilding, longevity is key.

As a bodybuilder, there are so many options. You can very well replace weight with other methods.

if you really focus on the squeeze the DB press makes your chest pump up like no other hnnnng

my triceps fatigue and wear out way quicker with DBs than with BBs though oddly enough

You can look dyel with enough BF and not being full tom cruise.

Fuk benching bruh, bloatmaxxed from 175- 205 in 30 days (This was during babyslayers glory days on misc) Went from 305ish to 345 x 2 on the 2nd rep tore something in my shoulder, it's still messed up. Regardless of my phuck up there's really no benefit in barbell benching besides being better at barbell benching vs training with dumbbells.

What I mean is from my early 20's peak levels to my early-mid 30's.

I never got bloodwork to see what my levels were because I just assumed high. More random erections than anyone I know, morning wood every morning, faster gains then everyone I know. I don't see any reason not to top up at some point why not 30's?

Glad you realize it.

There are two things that will make you appreciate the dumbbell press over time.

Age or injury.
