That's a 300 lb+ African Lion. Lions are extremely robust compared to a cougar, which is more comparable to a very large domestic cat when examining their skeletons. I already said a human has no chance in a fight against a lion, tiger, or jaguar.

I'd probably just pull guard and quickly transition to a rear naked choke hold. Might even put it in an armbar if I'm feeling frisky.

Yeah no chit our intellegence is our greatest asset....You said a 145 lb cougar is not going to be stronger than a 200 lb man and I completely disagree. They were made to kill with their bodies we rely on tools. If the man has no tools aka weapons wtf is he going to do to a mountain lion punch it to death. You better hope theres some rocks lying around that you can use but as soon as u bend over to pick one up it'll most likely pounce on you. My point is that we are physically weaker than all other apex predators. As soon as you introduce weapons and group hunting no chit we're the top dogs. But in this specific situation an unarmed man is face to face with a cougar. No way he's stronger

EDIT: look at something like a chimpanzee the average height is like 4 feet and it weighs 130 lbs. That chit would wreck any human in a fight hands down. They measured a chimps strength and it was much stronger than a human. Come on bro, I know its a tough reality but the whole point of our intelligence is that we specifically don't have to use our frail bodies. These animals evolved to use their physicality to kill chit. We evolved our intelligence as an extreme form of COPE

ofc we get a positive ROI on our brains...that was not my point

My point was that humans are NOT apex predators. We are very smart prey. We only recently started being able to kill these animals. You are ignoring the fact that humans are at least 200,000 years old.

I think the cougar is way faster, more explosive, athletic, claws, and stronger bite. But as far as pure brute strength in a wrestling match, I don't see a 145lb cougar being stronger than a 200 (fit) man. Not talking your average 200 lb couch potato. I wrestle my german shepherd all the time, and he is a big dog, but nowhere near as strong as me, not even close. I imagine a cougar might be twice as strong as my german shepherd. Also only an idiot goes into cougar territory alone and without a weapon, at least a knife, on him.

You're comparing a German Shepherd to a fuking mountain lion. Bro...also your German Shepherd is holding back. It isn't trying to kill you, and btw it could if it wanted to. I agree that going into Cougar territory without a weapon is stupid, but that isn't the point. The point is that an unarmed human is going to die in a confrontation with a mountain lion.

Forget about the weapons. You started an argument about overpowering a cougar. It doesn't matter if you're 300lbs and it only weighs 150, you're still dead guaranteed.

This, and the one he quoted.

We didn't get to the top of the f'in food chain for no reason. We dominate every species and it's not even close. Brains over brawn all day long. Taking on one of these cats physically would be like them trying to take you on mentally. You go into the woods unarmed, you failed to use your brains to begin with. How you handle this situation also can be in your favor.

Humans are an opposition to their environment, not apart of it. So the reality is they don't really know what you are, so they will try to figure it out. If you put out the indications that you are prey, you're done. If you make out like a fellow preditor, now it's a territorial dispute, and if you are backing away, they feel they already won. If they do attack, you really fight like as though you have a chance to win and if you can be on the offensive. Easier said than done.

Either that or just play dead. It will be good practice for what you're about to be doing.

Okay...your German shepherd doesn't have daggers on his fkn paws. Cougars have an average bite force of 350, while German Sheperd only have a bite force of 238. Bro come on you can't be this delusional. I know it sucks that we're weak af as a species but come on.

I would actually put my arm in its mouth and let it bite me, sacrifice that arm so that I could use my other hand to gouge out it's eyes and blind it. Then break its neck.

There are reports of average unarmed men killing cougars and leopards. These cats usually weigh 70-150lbs (big ones up to 220lbs). These cats are built more like large tabbies. They don't have the same robust skeleton and musculature of lions, tigers, and jaguars, even at the same weight.

Holy **** there are some stupid fcking people in here.

FACT:

If you think you could beat a mountain lion in a fight, you are 100%, guaranteed AUTISTIC. (srs) (super srs)

Jesus christ the misc never ceases to amaze me with low IQ subject matter. DURRRR, over power it. It's going to move so fast at you that you won't be able to react in time. It's a predator. A PREDATOR. It will rip your throat out faster than you know what to do about it. Only chance you have is to protect your neck and go for the eyes on that thing and hope you poke them hard enough that he backs off and runs away for an easier meal. Jesus christ the misc is retarded.

Also, NEVER run from a cat predator. They will chase you guaranteed, catch you and fck you up. You have to be as big as possible, mean as possible and have actual confidence so the cat thinks twice.

NEVER play dead with a cat predator. If you do get attacked, fight back as hard as you can.

Always carry a weapon if mountain lions are around.

You watch too much TV if you think an unarmed human can kill a cougar. I know only of one case where an unarmed man killed a leopard, and that was after he fuking SHOT it, ran out of bullets, and the thing almost murdered him before it passed out. SRS.

It didn't almost pass out, carl Akeley had to strangle the leopard to death or he would have died. Even if the leopard was not wounded, he would have been able to strangle it to death in the same way because thats how it died.

"He called for the boy, hoping he’d bring a knife, but received no response. So he held on to the animal and “continued to shove the hand down her throat so hard she could not close her mouth and with the other I gripped her throat in a stranglehold.” He bore down with his full weight on her chest, and felt a rib crack. He did it again—another crack. “I felt her relax, a sort of letting go, although she was still struggling. At the same time I felt myself weakening similarly, and then it became a question as to which would give up first.”

Slowly, her struggle ceased. Akeley had won. He lay there for a long time, keeping the leopard in his death grip. “After what seemed an interminable passage of time I let go and tried to stand, calling to the pony boy that it was finished.” The leopard, he later told Popular Science Monthly, had then shown signs of life; Akeley used the boy’s knife to make sure it was really, truly dead."

Bro why do you think these things newsworthy? Hint: Because they shouldn't and don't happen often. Not to mention the first one the dude shot the leopard first, the source is also his autobiography and noone else witnessed it. The second story, the dude had a drop on the cougar who was trying to take the dog into the woods. The entire time the cougar didn't even fight the dude it was just trying to take the dog...

Yea the majority of the time even a leopard or cougar is going to kill a man. But the question was asking if you would run or fight it. I said that running is suicide, but a fit man would at least have a decent chance of fighting a cougar the size of the one in that video and either killing it or making it run away.

Lets see:
ofc we get a positive ROI on our brains...that was not my point

My point was that humans are NOT apex predators. We are very smart prey. We onlyrecentlystarted being able to kill these animals. You are ignoring the fact that humans are at least 200,000 years old.
That is false. We have been hunting these animals from time immemorial.

Talking about the video, that cat is really small and shouldn't pose any serious problem to a full grown man except you run. If you notice it very wary and it if you give chase will back off. There was a video of an animal psychologists with cheetahs which are much bigger than this fuker if she turned her back to run they gave chase then she holds her ground and they stop.

anyhow my philosophy is if you think you are going to be fuked whichever way then hold your ground and fight like a fuking man.

It was literally shot and bleeding out and still took that much to kill.

Give him some credit. Dude literally killed a leopard with bare hands which you guys said was not possible. Imagine this kind of alpha male complaining that a girl never responded to his text.

You still don't get my point. The dude was saying that a 200 lb man is stronger than a fking cougar. In no way is that even remotely true. Just because an extreme outlier occurred under incredibly specific circumstances doesn't meant that it would happen with everyone. I would go to say that an unarmed man versus a cougar would lose 999/1000 times.
