Yeah Mbappe is their star.

Can literally run at any defense and make things happen.

Giroud is basically their Higuain at this point.

Wonder if a player like Fekir might serve them better as a false nine.

Watch Giroud bang in the winner on Sunday lol. Deschamps is a fan of him because he brings balanace to the team - lack of goals aside, he's good at tracking back and is useful in attack, in the air, and in defence and holding up play. It allows Griezmann and Mbappe to go nuts

Deschamps has lost both the big finals he has managed in.UCL 2004 for Monaco against Porto and 2016 against Portugal.I like him a lot and his stints at Monaco,JuBe in Serie B [lol] and Marseille were all successful but somehow i have a feeling he can choke in finals.Maybe it will be 3rd time lucky for him but there is always the chance Deschamps becomes overcautious and loses the plot.

Yep France looked way better since bringing him in, really it should be Benzema but he does the job well

You cant have a front three of Griezmann, Mbappa, Dembele, it lacks a focal point

Giroud is just an odd player to watch.

Chit player in general but the team is worse without him... Then he comes out with occasional moments of spectacular passes/shots etc. His defense isn't bad, though.

Who would be a non-French player that would be suitable as an ST/CF for France (play-style wise)? Diego Costa? A Drogba? Aubameyang? Would Lacazette even fit with this French team?

Decent vid showing Giroud's usefulness in the French defense vs Belgium. Not to mention his presence in the air.

Giroud gets a lot of **** that he doesn't deserve. He isn't going to wake up Sunday and have Suarez' nose for the net, but in the air and defensively he is an asset. A lot of guys in his position and height just park in front of the net, he gives effort both ways. Plus he has great beard aesthetics.

I hope Croatia wins.
I think France wins 3-1

Messi and Argentina got the worst luck of the draw.

Ran into the two best teams in the tournament.

a bit of a running gag in Belgium that Mignolet never plays, even when we played a complete B-team against England in the group

and he won't play tomorrow as well Martinez confirmed

translation:

- Simon, you're on the lineup sheet.
- Really coach?
- Yeah, get off, I need it.

If France wins the world cup it will prove when an Arsenal player leaves the club...he achieves big things.

This. And that the WC was just beginning and the month started with such promise for everybody. The drama sign of the things to come.

I felt like I was watching a movie when he slotted that kick.

I'd say it will be one of the most iconic.

There weren't as many top bin volleys this WC.

Kroos' all-or-nothing shot against Sweden was massive as well, but the keeper should never have been beaten from that angle.

Will have to wait for a big compilation of every goal before making the call though.

Nacho's and Pavard's are very similar.

I also rate the Belgian counter-attack for their 3rd against the Japs. Lukaku's dummy was massive, I still can't believe he had the self-control to do that.
