Yeah you're also right and the kid is probably taking food out of that vendor's mouth too.

The city helped the kid out and now that vendor is gonna starve...
See i don't think you're understanding what i am saying...

Explain to me exactly how it's FAIR that this kid doesn't need a permit but other vendors do?

That's what's in question here. If you can explain that to me in a thoughtful logical way i'll agree with you but if you say "herp derp he's just a kid" come on...

He paid a permit and will be having a hot dog cart next summer.
He is following regulations.

He has a permit NOW that the city gave him one..that's fine.

The problem in the OP is that "some bitch snitched on him" for NOT having a permit and some people ITT are defending him saying he was in the right to not need a permit and the person that ratted him out is a bitch

so again...Explain to me exactly how it's FAIR that his kid doesn't need a permit but other vendors do?

what if the kid sells food that has gone bad and someone dies, shouldn't all food vendors have some sort or regulation

When it was reported that the kid didn't have a permit he was shut down then they (the city and other people) helped him get his stand up to code so he could get the permit. In many cities that's around 400 bucks.

What he's doing now after he got the permit is perfectly legal.

There's a public safety element, it's why for example he has a tent now instead of being completely out in the open.

Without the tent for example the stand would be subject to things like say a bird flying by and ****ting in the food (srs).

I'm not saying forcing the kid to get a permit is right but you can't say it's baseless or they're just inventing reasons to be against what he's doing, there are legitimate concerns.

Yes and 100% fair. I have absolutely no problems with what he's doing.

I have a problem with the people ITT that think the person who ratted him out was in the wrong...

The kid was in the wrong for operating a hot dog stand without a permit...that's the facts.

Fact of the matter is. The kid was selling hot dog's without a permit. Got caught. City helped him out. Now what he's doing is perfectly legal.

What he was doing wasn't. So don't blame the whistle blower because this kid can't follow simple guidelines.

How is he becoming aware of how regulations work and doing the due process to legally and legitimately sell food relevant? Gee...idk.

As a former hospitality worker... I think health inspections should be optional, but that displaying their results, or the lack of an inspection, should be compulsory. So if you rock up to a place and there's a sign saying, "this establishment has NOT been verified as safe by the Health Dept", and next door there's a place that has been inspected and the sign says all's good, then you are able to make an informed choice.
How is that fair at all?
The kid's media attention is not going to last. In a week or two he'll be gone and people will be back to your hot dog stand. Plus, at least half of custom is regulars, they're not leaving either way. So business drops for a week or two then picks back up again later. That's the way it goes in business.

The law is not the same for everyone. They probably won't take it as such a big offense since the person without a permit to sell hotdogs is a clueless kid and not a grown adult.

I like the idea of the health permit not being mandatory but optional and a way to attract more business.

Regardless it's not fair for one individual to require a permit by law and another not. Even if the one who isn't required is just a "media fad"

Now wouldn't it been cool if the person who ratted him out instead went about it a little different? Maybe by talking to him and maybe say "Hey I don't want you to get in trouble for not having a clean stand and selling food without a license. So let's find out what it takes and I'll help you out."

Hotdog are almost always precooked and full of preservatives. Think of all those nasty hot dogs sitting at your local gas station for a whole day. It would take a whole lot of dumb **** to make people sick from a hot dog. But in general I just wouldn't trust a kid or any random guy selling **** on the streets because theres a high chance they could've ****ed with your food in the background.
