Well no one else has stepped up to the plate here...

I'll take a 3 month ban if you post video proof. A note with the date/time on it and MISC in all caps. And just to be clear, we are talking full ROM strict OHP? No leg drive?

According to the article above legendary weightlifter Vasily Alekseyev pressed over 500lbs.(in addition to being the first person to clean and jerk that amount)

It's not that hard to get to a bw OHP. If you program it correctly, it should be pretty easy.

It's harder for some, but one thing I agree is that if you want to be good at OHP, then you need to do it a lot. I know lots of people who can progress in Bench/Squat/Dead without doing it frequently. My best bench and deadlift came after not doing either for months....

OHP is different beast though. I've done 225 for 5, and that was with doing it weekly. If I stop doing it my numbers decrease rapidly.

Same experience here, I can be hitting PR's on all other shoulder press movements yet if I don't incorporate standing strict OHP on my shoulder day it will ALWAYS go down until I prioritize it again.

Yea that's true. I focused on OHP for about 2 months and was able to get a bw OHP. my ohp is probably weak again since it's been a good few months since I've done anything over 135 for reps

I focused on OHP (1-2 times a week) for about 2 months too, only got up to 55 lb for 5 reps. So I’m thinking I could do 65 for 1. It’s definitely harder for certain people (just like any other lift). Stopped doing them for 3 months, now back down to struggling to do 5 with just the bar.

5 reps at an RPE of 10 is about 86% of 1RM. Assuming that 65lbs sounds about right. Given the amount of support needed from glutes/abs during OHP it might even be less. Depends on the person though.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen him do OHP. He was Arnold pressing 80 lb db for 8-9reps last week. 230 lb body weight though so nothing to write home about.

It’s one of those lifts that if you fail you could REALLY hurt yourself. So I didn’t want to go too heavy and die.

It was more like RPE 8-9. I lift alone so I try not to push myself too close to failure.

That's really solid, IMO. Arnold pressing is quite a bit harder than normal DB pressing.

I believe we could count the number of guys on this forum who legitimately strict press 225x8 on 1 hand, all of whom are big dudes like Lpenny or Arn and 225x8 relative to their other lifts makes a lot of sense.

This guys 185lbs? Avi looks like an average lifter and says his bench/squat are "weakling." It all seems misplaced to me and I don't think I can give him the benefit of the doubt.

If he can prove me wrong by posting a video like PeaceWithin said I'll 100% eat my words and take a (I think I said perma??) 3 month ban.
