Ninja reportedly makes $500,000 a month playing Fortnite

Mainly through the donations of fans. I was watching one video of his and someone donated $100 to him. Dudes making like $1,000 an hour at times.


Is $500,000/month real tea? They said he plays about 10 hours a day.

He makes that on subs alone, donations add an undisclosed amount of top of that, then add in his Youtube Revenue as well, he's also now a RedBull sponsored athlete as well as any other sponsorships he's worked out.

Prob well over a million a month.

No, he makes well over that amount. Most of his Twitch revenue, which is where that number comes from, comes from monthly subscriptions which are well known and not a secret. He makes even more once you consider his massive Youtube view counts (nearly 16 mill subs, every video hits like 2-6+ million views), and other corporate sponsorship such as his Red Bull sponsor.

Paying money to watch someone play video games blows my mind. I've met younger kids who don't even play the video games they watch on YouTube.

It's the new media advertising opportunity. At this rate, might not be long before the total ad revenue passes the NFL.

is it not full potato for professional athletes to be making 9 figures then?

ninja works his ass off via streaming insane amounts of hours and is in the top percentage of his craft. he's not the best fortnite player but he's the most marketable.. which sadly counts for everything in the US lul.

Do you see the irony? I always find it comical how it is seemingly socially acceptable for an athlete to make millions because they are the best at doing something absurdly pointless (eg: kicking a ball, throwing a ball into a hoop, catching an egg-shaped ball, etc) but what, its ridiculous that someone who is the best (or most marketable) at a video game be just as financially profitable? Its the exact same thing kiddo: someone who is very good at something that is deemed entertaining is paid because that individual generates revenue: whether that be by selling ads, or selling tickets or merchandise.

Younger kids (15 and below) will watch these streams and not play.... So yes it's exactly like spectating sports.... And both make no sense to me.
