It just seems more optimal to have a clear division of responsibility and expertise. Less thrashing, more ownership, delegation and lower stress. I find it really difficult to see how 50/50 split on duties is either manageable or desirable, but each to their own.

And that isn't to mention the critical importance of extensive bonding with a young child. I hope one or both of you is part time.

What are you talking about. Most people do exactly the opposite. Regardless of how you do it, there's the same amount of chit to do, and the same 2 people doing it.
You don't have to do ALL things ALL the time. You do all the things half the time, because there are 2 of you.

How is it not possible to do those things? I do it every day, so does my wife. We clean up after ourselves, clean up after our child. Some days she cooks, some days I cook. It's not a difficult schedule. She's a teacher who deals with special needs, her work stresses her out too.

Again. I don't think the cliche marriage/gender roles are "incorrect".
I just said that on a personal level, I am not interested in a relationship with a woman who wants that. I want a partner who can partake in all the same tasks as myself.

My mom used to wake up before my dad and cook breakfast. Cook lunch and bring it to him at work. Cook supper and have it ready for him when he got home. He never even had to serve his own plate of food or get his own drink. Just go have a seat at the table. And if he needed a refill on a drink during the meal he never had to get up for that either.


All that + managed to do laundry, clean the house, wash the dishes, do laundry, grocery shop, run errands and pay bills.

Try splitting these duties up when you are gone 7 months of the year and home not working the other 5. Seriously not even a point in trying to have a relationship.

My parents had/have the same situation. Over 50 years very happily married.
