Don't bother with the police, what happened is not a crime so they won't be able to do anything.
Get an estimate and demand that the office pay for the repair. If they refuse, sue them

Facts submitted to court of misc lawyers
-not a marked tow away zone/handicapped spot/ not parked in someone else's designated space/not missing parking tag/not given 24 hours notice to move due to things like flat/missing tire or something listed in lease as derilect vehicle/ not missing license plate/ no illegal park.
-not notified in advance of my truck being taken possession of and moved. I got intimating slamming fist and Mexican screaming.
-never gave consent to have my truck being taken and moved to another place. Who would allow that if they had the option to just move their vehicle themselve?

Send an email to the office with the same questions you asked the guy on the phone, referencing that you talked to him but were unable to figure out what happened. Get it in writing, otherwise they can just make up whatever they want.
Don't tell them or make it obvious that you are going to take it to the police/ take legal action, make it more an issue of manners/ pride, "I don't appreciate the way the situation, the communication or the follow-up have been handled" kinda chit, so they'll get their feelings involved and explain to you how you're wrong and they're right; in there process they'll set out in writing what's happened (hopefully)

Facts which will be submitted by the other side:1. Advance notice was given to all tenants of the work that was being done and the need to block out parking spaces sequentially as the work progressed.
2. Truck was parked in the same spot for days, in violation of the terms of use (check the fine print of your lease/rent. $5 says vehicles have to be moved every 72 hours or so without prior arrangement with management), so they were unable to block out the spot prior.
3. Attempt was made to contact the owner of the vehicle without success.
4. Truck was moved by a professional towing company in accordance with common practices in the industry.
5. No unusual circumstances or damage was noted by the tow truck operator.
6. Plaintiff has submitted no evidence his truck was actually damaged or the amount of the alleged loss.
7. Plaintiff has submitted no evidence that the alleged damage was done by the towing company or even on the apartment property.
8. Respondent is counter-suiting for the cost of the tow, court costs and lawyer fees.

This is your own fault.
You should have answered the door like I said, instead of cowering in the corner of your room with a knife that we both know you wouldn't use.

I would be so pissed if this happened to me
You need to read over every document/contract/lease agreement to work out who is in the right. You can't expect us to know that

Fla. Stat. § 715.07 "When a person improperly causes a vehicle or vessel to be removed, such person shall be liable to the owner or lessee of the vehicle or vessel for the cost of removal, transportation, and storage; any damages resulting from the removal, transportation, or storage of the vehicle or vessel; attorney’s fees; and court costs."
The building owner or management has to have given permission, not the roofers to tow. It doesn't matter if the roofers needed to get in a spot or knocked, they have no authority to tow.
Since management has your plates on file, I don't understand why they didn't try and contact you in person, by notice or in person. Ask your neighbors if they have gotten anything in the mail.
File a report with your insurance and police. Document everything. If the roofers are still doing work, take pictures of the lot with the planks of wood "reserving" spots as well as photos showing there are no "no parking" signs. Give those to your insurance and lawyer.

I swear if you were in my situation you wouldn't be poking fun at me. I wish there were a way for you to hear and feel how loud that guy was banging down the doors and running around screaming in jibberish/Spanish. I'm not moving around and risking making noise let alone answer the fuking door you guys are out of your minds. I'd understand if I parked in a bad spot this damage would be half my fault but what they did is not my fault they initiated violence against me property and I'm really upset.
