Capt Fantastic was ok, nothing amazing. In fact the best thing was discovering Israel Nash - Rain Plans. Amazing song.

I remember this little conspiracy during the movies. It was hogwash. The era that the books were written in and the poem reflects (correctly) the behaviours people had towards each other. It was perfectly normal to be caring and emotional towards your comrades.

Epic, cinematic, masterpiece. The greatest trilogy in the annals of filmdom.
17 Oscars in total for the trilogy and 475 awards out of 800 nominations, making it the most acclaimed movie series IN HISTORY.

The movies received universal critical acclaim and spawned an entire generation of fans; becoming a long-lasting inspiration to film, music, literature and games. Its impact on popular culture was simply UNPRESIDENTED.

The trilogy holds an average score of 8.8 on the IMDB 250 lists, which itself is a remarkable feat.
The Return of the King won Oscar for Best Picture, one of only TWO fantasy movies in history to do it. (And we all know why The Shape of Water won it, Political Correctness has ingrained its roots deep in the industry, one of the reasons movies suck nowadays).

Epic soundtrack, epic storytelling, epic effects, it was simply put the sum of fantastic filmmaking.

GOAT movies. I'm in! I watch them every few months or so when I'm just in the mood for an epic adventure.

If I had any nitpicks it would be some of the deus ex machina saves at the very last moment. I get that it's used to build tension but there were too much of them in some of the most crucial scenes.

LOTR trilogy is the GOAT. Saw them all in theaters on opening day for each movie. Spent like 16 hour in line to see the Return of the King. It was totally worth it.

Amazon is apparently making a series and they've vouched a cool $500,000,000 so far is what I've heard.

I just hope they don't ruin it with some gay chit like having Frodo and Sam in some secret gay relationship. You know, dumb chit like that.

In the novels (which I read earlier this year) Aragorn/Strider/Elessar is described as quite an ugly, weathered looking man, which is understandable given his age and years of roaming the wilds. Viggo Mortensen was a handsome, chiselled guy in his younger days.

Looking at the trilogy, I would say Peter Jackson and crew did a great job at transferring the magic and emotion to the big screen. The epic parts of the book are epic on the screen as well. The charge of the Pelennor fields is awesome in the book, how Theoden's horse (Snowmane) is so fast that the other riders can barely keep up with him and cannot overtake him. Also when the heroes of Helm's Deep charge out of the stronghold and mow down all the orc scum in their way.

Its a shame that the movies didn't even mention Tom Bombadil or the somewhat enchanted land he lived in, however there wasn't time for everything. There were numerous characters left out of the movies; Prince Imrahil, Erkenbrand, Beregond and his son etc.

But he IS ugly compared to the other main characters. He scraggly, got dirt under his nails, unshaven etc.

Really? I thought the speech and the begin of the charge was good, but the rest was kinda like 'meh.'

I do think it's because the Helm's Deep battle was so awesome. Just the way they showed the strategic battle plan of the Orcs and the planning/execution of the defense. It was just amazing.
